Will US and Israel Use Hamas as Pretext for Iran Attack?

There are indications that the US government is planning to use Hamas as a pretext for a potential attack against Iran.

A couple of very interesting reports were published last week in the London-based pan-Arab newspaper, Al-Hayat, that of course have received no attention whatsoever in the US media.

The first, published Friday, is a story filed by Ibrahim Humaidy (Arabic) reporting that an unnamed Arab government's intelligence service delivered a detailed file on Hamas' external leadership structure to the Mossad, Israel's intelligence agency.

According to the article, Mossad had asked the Arab government for the file since it has been unable to gather enough information on its own:

Sources said that the Arab intelligence service "delivered the file only three days after an official request by Mossad director Meir Dougan" and reported that the "file included detailed information on the presence of Hamas in Tehran, Damascus, Beirut, Khartoum, Sanaa, and some of the Persian Gulf states."

The Arab sources made clear that the most important information included in the file that was handed over by the Arab intelligence service to the Israelis "related to the Hamas external leadership, with details focusing on [Khalid] Mishaal, his deputy Musa Abu Marzuq, and the political office members Imad Al-Alami and Muhammad Nazzal, including information relevant to their movements, places of residence, habits, and personal and lifestyle preferences" in addition to "information related to their food, drink, clothes laundering, and the personality and role of each."
