It's good to hear that Fastlink scholarships are implemented. I know for sure that the aim of this project is not publicity, coz I was part of this project before I left Fastlink around one year ago.
The reason behind it is simple. Fastlink pays tax just like any other private company. However, any social donations are not included in the amount of tax paid. Therefore, the question was, why pay the government and wait for years to see something useful for the public, when we can take the initiative and participate is social service?

As an x-Fastlink employee, I can proudly tell you that the company focus big time on social and public service for the sake of society service, not mainly for the publicity. I'm saying this coz I was part of the social committee and know the intentions of my x-colleagues.

Update: I'm now working at MTC-Vodafone Bahrain (part of MTC group, which owns Fastlink, LibanCell, Atheer-Iraq, MTC-Kuwait and MTC-Bahrain). I can tell you for sure that even though MTC-VB doesn't pay any tax, yet their social activities is no less than Fastlink)
