Americans are the ones who control what image they want to portray of Iraq, and its usually a negative one, they have never covered the official Miss Iraq pageants that have been going on for years. go see it on http://iraqmodels.tripod.com/

and Miss Universe being american they had an excuse in the 1990’s that the ‘ U.S does not have Diplomatic ties with Iraq’ and now they dont even consider an entry from Iraq into Miss Universe and due to the current situation in iraq , I , as owner and organizer of the event had to move it for the third year in a row to Kenya therefore i get to have Iraqis in the diaspora as entrants into the Pageant. where Miss World and Miss Universe decline to accept an entry to a Pageant that has been held outside of its soil, although their contract specifies that a special permission may be issued, but they dont.
    I rest my case.

Thank you Ahmed for sharing this.

As organizer, do you have any official documents supporting the denial of ‘Miss Universe’ the right to participate in these events and the reason?

I understand why it could have been denied before the occupation, but what it the reason now? Did you approach any human rights organizations? I think you should.

I cant do that , everything that happened was on teh phone and complaining and taking it to a human rights org. would jeopardize my license and Miss Universe & World can withdraw it. and i disagree that ‘its ok for them to NOT ADMIT an entry from Iraq’ during Saddam’s reign, we should rememebr that its a ‘beauty contest’ not a world summit, its not like Saddam is the organizer.

Miss Iraq represents Iraqi women and not Saddam.

  • 6 May, 2005, 17:32

I don’t understand how complain will jeopardize your license, but even then, I think if you can make a big fuss of it that will help on the long run.

I disagree, i think you have never dealt with these Big pageant organizers, they are fussy and they can always say ‘ well you breached out contract we stipulate that the country represented should have the pageant on its soil’ in any case i doubt that the 2006 pageant will be held in Iraq coz the country is in turmoil.

  • 13 June, 2005, 21:40

    That would be good!

Honestly Ahmed, when I looked at your website, it didn’t give me the real feeling about how serious is this business. I mean as ‘D’ said, it just didn’t look real.

Anyway ‘D’, I wish you all the best. And if you happen to participate e at any stage, please let me know as I would be glad to make a post about it ;-)

    Hi,

since 2003 the pageant was open for girls in kenya iraqis or anyone who has an iraqi parent/ many of our entries were iraqi israelis since they have a huge community there. so thats why the names were un Arab. This years winner Payal is of Indian heritage her mother is originally iraqi and moved to India and so she was admitted, but for 2006 we want Iraqis living in Iraq and speak fluent Arabic. if you look at past winners prior to 2003 you will understand it better. again we are open to all who have what it takes to compete and wont fuss about the bathing suit issue thats why i think the pageant will be held in Kenya again but this time we will take the girls from Iraq to Nairobi for the 2006 staging.

    Regards.

Yasmin i guess nominated herself as an iraqi representtaive , and there is one official pageant called iraq’s beauty queen competition. we hold the license to Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss International and Miss Earth.

So Payal is the official winner. and hopefully next year we can televise the Pageant for you to see. And Nadia if your parents dont want you in the pageant and if you come from a relegious/conservative family then its best not to apply.

we really dont want to fall in family disputes over pageants since we dont need trouble as it is i think alot of arms will be raised against us. and we changed the name of the agency anyway to talat models effective as of July 1st 2005.

Good Luck in the future and hopefully ill keep you posted on the 6th edition of this peageant next year. I know its been organzied for the past 59 years on low budget and almost no media coverage and in the 1990’s it was exclusively organized within the Baghdad International school community since the government didnt want much publicity for the small scale parade.

http://www.pageant.com usually covers the pageant, and yassmin contacted me for entry into the 2006 pageant. again please conservative people should not enter the pageant just be happy while watching it or follow its news, we really dont want to get with families in arguments and them wanting to pull their duaghters out ,thats why we contact the parents and require a parent agreement signed and we focus on non muslims with a special research on muslim entries, we dont accept girls who come from tribal families or have tribal mentality that is way too dangerous and we will continmue to operate out of iraq until that country gets a real official and a secualr government especially now that everyone is talking about civil war and seperation.

being Miss Iraq with us will be a full time job and not merely a spoiled girl wearing a crown. Payal is the Official titleholder and she wil compete in Miss International in Japan later on and Miss Earth.

Hello to everyone. I´ve been browsing on net bored, and typed in “Miss Iraq” and it brought me here, and what a surprise to find here Miss Iraq (himself) - the all-famous Ahmed. Shloonek, ya gawaad? Since when did you promote from ordinary Miss to organizer of the event? Was it after you ended up in rubbish in that unfortunate event of Miss Universe 2003 where you weren´t even let in, being told that the HMC (happy monster contest) is elsewhere? DUde! You are unfair, you never give a vote to Miss Czech republic, and what is worse, not even Miss Vietnam who makes the best “kwa kwa kwaaa” in the world. Eeb alyek! Fimalla

    13 September, 2005, 16:30

Hi my name is Sarah and i was in the natianl finals of the Miss England competition and i came in the top 12, i have had international press coverage as i was the first british iraqi to go for the title of miss england.

Since then i have been approached by the ammbassador of the iraqi embassy in london and he wants to on behalf of the iraqi government, sponsor me to take part in the miss world competition as the first Miss Iraq.

Unfortunately the miss world organisation, came up with there usual crap of havin to have the copetition on the soil of the land u want to represent, i’m trying to make me an exception..i’ll keep you posted!

if anyone has any advice, that would be great!

    Hi Miss czch Republic,

hi Miss Czech rep. well when a titleholder loses in Miss Universe she comes back to train others to win the crown. Miss Vietnam made it to Miss Universe but she was busy picking rice that she never made it and organizers sent Canada to win Miss Universe.

  • 1 October, 2005, 9:26

I cant vote for you Miss czech Rep, since you betrayed me as your Miss Universe 2003 roommate and went to bed with Miss Togo, and i had to conspire with Miss Israel that you were anti semitic and they sent you home you Nazi Miss czech rep. and Miss Vietnam took too long to get there she took the donkey to Panama and was confused and ended up in Fiji but she made it back this year.

write me my email is ahmedito4@gmail.com or @hotmail.com id love to hear from you.

  • 1 October, 2005, 9:36

Ahmed, no more… Take this crap personal conspiracy story away from here.

No more comments will be accepted from you unless you write in a respectful manner.

  • 1 October, 2005, 10:00

    Sara Mendley,

if you have the qualifications of being under 23 on february 1st and if you have an Iraqi passport you can fill in the form submit your photos and copy of your birth certificate and proof that you are an Iraqi citizen and if you are selected among the 20 finalists we will contact you so that you can come for the Pageant, i Know Miss World and Miss Universe and all Pageants are strict about having the pageant on Iraqi soil, they have given me a headache about the 1998 Pageant when we wanted to send our winner to Miss World and their excuse back then was that iraq had no diplomatic relations with england and the usa and that iraq was under sanctions and now they want it on iraqi soil with all the trouble that we are encountering.

  • 24 October, 2005, 13:54

    Hello,
I am from the United States. I watch the News today, talking about Miss Iraq stepping down due to death threats. I would like to say that the Miss Iraw winner is a brave woman, and to her successor, she also is a brave for taking the position.

I normally do not follow beauty contests so I do not know anything about them. I hope something positive can come out of all of this.

something positive will come out of this, i assure you even if she wont make it to an international pageant, we prepare her and train her to take on a career and she learns how to do things gracefully, ive seen girls enter and win Miss Iraq and after the reign ends they change 180% and they all do very well after that. Plus they get to travel and do so much and all those medieval people with a retarded mentality all they can do is complain as if they look better, I admit the pics didnt do her justice but Silva is a beautiful young woman and i am glad that her name is attached to MISS IRAQ title, she is a great human being and i am happy to have her on board, we gt to work together daily and I do hope that she wins MISS EARTH and too bad she wont be in MISS UNIVERSE , due to us applying for the 2006 license after we have concluded our National Pageant, but someday we will see Iraq back in MISS UNIVERSE.

we will have a website where all the official information will be available and to those who want to participate
