The US-led occupation forces in Iraq face violent attacks and suicide bombings, but nature has its hazards as well - like this dramatic desert sandstorm.
The storm hit on Tuesday, at the former Iraqi airbase at al-Asad, about 180 km (110 miles) west of Baghdad, now home to a US marine corps unit.
The sandstorm approaching at around 60 mph (95 km/h) engulfed people, buildings and equipment. The sky turned orange as the storm approached, until total darkness blanketed the ground.
Experts say such storms are extremely rare in Iraq, and can spring up almost without warning. Pictures taken by Gunnery Sergeant Shannon Aldredge, US marine corps photographer. [source: BBC]
Update: Hope they didn’t awaken “The Mummies”! After all who knows. Maybe they did
Following photos are from the some scenery of “The Mummy” movie:

Any match?
Well, don’t you just wish that that mouth appeared on the photos of Iraq sandstorm and swallowed the occupation forces ![]()

This reminds of “The Day After Tomorrow” Movie …
A wise friend pointed out to me, that God has protected America from many many things since her beginnings. God in his/her frustration has removed that protection from America. Doubts, read the news, even MSM does not miss what bad things, are happening to America. To those that can connect the dots, or connect with the universal truth, our future looks quite dark. The time to take action is now, or for America to slip further down the Highway to Hell. EtJ
no words to say!!! allah ye7mehom ahel el3eraq…
OceanCreep, actually it reminds me of nearly same sandstorm scenery of “The Mummy” movie… if you’ve seen that!
See photos update above.
So what does it mean when Arabs living in the Middle East are afflicted by sandstorms for thousands of years?
Nothing. We got used to it!
But if the sandstorm is nature acting against the American forces, how do you explain the sandstorms that occured even before there was an America?
Seems to me that if nature is sentient and expresses its opinion through sandstorms that nature really dislikes Arabs.
Sarcastic…. May be!
