Muta’a

Written by Haitham Sabbah on 05. May 2005, 1409hrs // Part of Haitham Sabbah's adventure in Culture, Failures, Iraq, News You Can Do Without // Other posts by Haitham Sabbah

Pleasure marriages, outlawed under Saddam Hussein, have begun to flourish again. “Al-Zaidi hopes to soon finalize his third muta’a, or “pleasure marriage,” with a green-eyed neighbor. This time, he talks about it openly and with obvious relish. Even so, he says, he probably still won’t tell his wife.”

At least Saddam did one right thing!

What next?

Nothing truly sucks more than this fabricated right of pleasure marriage, it’s so wrong, it’s a sin, and yes Saddam did at least one right thing when he outlawed such stupidity!

I agree with Eman, I dont know what is the difference between this pleasure marriage and prostitution… i belive the only difference is with prostituion, people say honestly this is what we want and with this poleasure marriage people imagine that they are tricking God, people around them and themselves… i did not imagine there would be a day when i salute prostitution for at least being honest!!!!

i dont understand some people, one minute they are saying muta is halal and the next they say its haram, if the prophet Mohamed pbuh said that is it halal, and it came from allah, then what is wrong with you people saying its like prostitution, i personally think that if one is a non virgin or virgin and she doesnt want to have sex in haram then she should to muta is halal and at least save herself from allah’s punishment, i am a person who is commited and i have done muta the terms and conditions applie to what you have decided to do and not to do with your partner, girls if you want my advise dont sleep around in haram do it with love and in halal muta is halal for all to do just have a clean intention.

    Mia,

I really feel sorry for you. I don’t know what evident you base your believes on.

Muta (Temporary Marriage) was first allowed in Islam, but then later was forbidden by Prophet Mohammed. You can refer to Sahih Muslim and Sahih Bukhari for evident. If you don’t believe in these two highly respected Muslim references, then that is another story. I know that some Muslim sects do not believe in the, so that would take me to another side of the Muta, which is, is it prostitution or not. So, if the above references are not enough, let me know and then we can take this discussion in more details!

It is not only disobedient and disgraceful to have an opinion about matter that has been decided by Allah, it shows that most people really do not know this religion, Islam, and they do not read the Qur’an just like a lot of christians don’t read the bible.

    Al-Ahzab (The Confederates)33:36 reads:
Now whenever God and His Apostle have decided a matter, it is not for a believing man or a believing woman to claim freedom of choice insofar as they themselves are concerned: for he who [thus] rebels against God and His Apostle has already, most obviously, gone astray.

Whenever there is an argument about a matter among Muslims. The truthseeker should ask, can you prove your argument? I have done that on this topic and here are my results:

An-Nisa (The Women)4:24, if this is not clear just open your Qur’an.

    ???????????????? ???? ????????? ?????? ??? ???????? ????????????? ??????? ?????? ?????????? ????????? ????? ???? ?????? ???????? ??? ??????????? ?????????????? ???????????? ?????? ???????????? ????? ?????????????? ???? ????????? ??????????? ???????????? ????????? ????? ??????? ?????????? ?????? ???????????? ???? ??? ?????? ???????????? ????? ?????? ????? ???????? ???????? (4:24)

    An-Nisa (The Women)4:24 reads:
And [forbidden to you are] all married women other than those whom you rightfully possess [through wedlock]: this is God’s ordinance, binding upon you. But lawful to you are all [women] beyond these, for you to seek out, offering them of your possessions, taking them in honest wedlock, and not in fornication. And unto those with whom you desire to enjoy marriage, you shall give the dowers due to them; but you will incur no sin if, after [having agreed upon] this lawful due, you freely agree with one another upon anything [else]: behold, God is indeed all-knowing, wise.

In the above translation , the word Istamtatum is the translation of “enjoy marriage” In Arabic you look up a word’s meaning by the root. I was at an Islamic instituion for 4 years. But if you do not understand, ask anyone who can read the Arabic to read it to you and you will hear the word “Istamtatum”, the root is MTA(meem ta ein).
Without even looking anything up in the Arabic dictionary, this looks like MUTA without the u, do you believe your own eyes when you see something or are you among the deaf, dumb, and blind Allah speaks about in the Quran. When you look up MTA(meem ta ein)in the Arabic dictionary, the meaning is temporary marriage.

Without MUTA, society are heavy fornicators and adulterers. I young man not ready for permanent marriage, for example, may not be finacially stable until he is 25-30, can he abstain that long? Or are you saying fornication is better than a marriage of any sort. Think about what you say and do not speak without knowledge on matters lest you earn Allah’s displeasure.

ABSOLUTLEY NO MAN CAN CHANGE ALLAH’S LAW. THAT IS BLASEPHEMY. SADDAM IS NOT QUALIFIED TO CHANGE ALLAH’S LAW. HE
IS NOT A MESSENGER OF ALLAH, THE QUR’AN WAS NOT REVEALED TO HIM. CHANGING LAW IS LIKE SAYING ALLAH DID NOT COMPLETELY
TEACH US ISLAM PROPERLY, THAT IS BLASPHEM. MUTA IS HALAL IN QURAN AND ALLAH IS SUFFICIENT THAT HE WOULD HAVE THEN
SAID, OK IT IS NOT LAWFUL. DO NOT RIDICULE ALLAH NOR ISLAM.

Sura[5:3]…………………………………………………… This day have I perfected for you your religion and completed My favor on you and chosen for you Islam as a religion; but whoever is compelled by hunger, not inclining willfully to sin, then surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

Sura[3.19] Surely the (true) religion with Allah is Islam, and those to whom the Book had been given did not show opposition but after knowledge had come to them, out of envy among themselves; and whoever disbelieves in the communications of Allah then surely Allah is quick in reckoning.

Sura[3.85] And whoever desires a religion other than Islam, it shall not be accepted from him, and in the hereafter he shall be one of the losers.

Please, read Quran, my brothers and sisters, THE FINAL REVELATION. May Allah guide you to the right path.
