Summer is the festival season in Arab countries, or at least in those countries where tourism represents a considerable percentage of national income, such as Lebanon, Egypt, Syria, some of the Gulf States, Tunisia and Morocco. A quick glance at the events scheduled in some of the Arab countries reveals, for example, that this summer there will be at least two important music festivals in Lebanon, Baalbek and Beiteddine Festivals in which famous international artists will appear, Dubai Summer Surprises in Dubai, Carthage International Festival in Tunisia and the famous Jerash Festival in Jordan.
That was the good news...
The bad news for me since I'm in Jordan is that while Jordan Tourism Board declares in its calendar that Jerash Festival will be between July 20th - August 6th 2005, visiting Jerash Festival website, there are nothing that indicates the date, events or the participants. Is it too early for that? The festival is supposed to be starting in about two weeks, yet no calendar of events, no list of participants in the festival. I hope to hear some good news soon!
The ancient city of Jerash, which always transformed into the Middle East's liveliest and most impressive cultural event, hosted thousands of visitors during the annual Jerash Festival, and Hundreds of most famous Arabic musician and artist like Marcel Khalifeh, Nasir Shammah, Assala Nasri, Diana Carazon, Kazem Al Saher, Elissa, Nancy Ajram and many more.

That is an interesting festival. Jordan is a wonderful place. The culture is rich and the people are really heart warming. I will just keep myself posted and wait for the site. I am expecting a lot of interesting things there.
