Global Voice meets Jordan Bloggers

Jordan Bloggers and Global Voice Meetup

In my to-do-list, I always wanted to meet some/all of Jordan Bloggers, and that wish came true last night. On top of that, it was more pleasant to have Ethan Zuckerman from Global Voice attending and sponsoring this meeting.

Having said that, you can imagine how interesting it was. Starting from the place we meet at, to the people attending and finally the subjects we discussed. (Not to forget that we celebrated Roba's birthday two days in advance :-) )

Anyway, I'm very happy to see and meet so many dedicated people. The group project(s) these people are working to archive can be described as the corner stone for a nation-wide '(Arabic) Blogging', specially among youngsters and rural areas.

Best of luck everyone, and hope I get the chance to meet all of you again soon.

Anyone ever considered a region blogger get together? A "Middle Eastern Bloggers Association" or something?

Maybe someday I'll start a blog and be able to meet you all in person.

Topic for another day: What can we do, with the distinctives that bloggers have, to do our part to help underpriviledged Palestinians in Jordan? I've been thinking about the responsibilities that the haves 'have' to the have-nots, and what that would look like. Plenty of passion for Palestine, but can can we DO to make a difference other than offer a voice and venue?
