jordan mass weddings

Over a week ago, tens of thousands of people attended what they thought to be the biggest Palestinian wedding ever, in addition to the huge media coverage. A mass wedding ceremony sponsored by the Islamic Jihad organization in the Gaza Strip, 222 Gazan couples got married in Gaza city on Friday, 22 July 2005. But that’s not all.

This biggest mass wedding was sponsored by Hamas On Thursday, 28 July 2005. 452 couples got married in the sports stadium in Nablus. The ceremony is believed to be the biggest mass wedding of Palestinians ever held.

On the same day but across the borders and in front of 25 000 well-wishers, 112 Syrian Muslim and Christian couples have tied the knot at an open air mass celebration in Damascus organized to encourage marriages despite heavy wedding costs.

Thursday night’s mass wedding was held in north-western Damascus’s Qaboon suburb and cost $29 000, which was donated by charity organizations. Muslim and Christian clergyman were among those attending the wedding that brought together couples from all over Syria.

But again, that’s not all.

The above picture is taken from Jordanian mass wedding. This party toke place in Amman on Friday July 29, 2005. 124 brides and bridegrooms took part in the 12th mass wedding organized by Al-Afaf Islamic charity associations to encourage and help Muslims to get married.

Well, besides wishing all these couples a happy life, I hope they all had discovered the power of love :-D
