Update: It is not anymore a rumor. King Fahd death is confirmed.
“With deep sorrow and pain, the royal court… mourns the death of The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd due to illness,” said an official statement read out on state television.
God bless his soul. Fahd, who was believed to be 83 and had been in poor health, had entered hospital on May 27 with acute pneumonia.
“The royal family members have acknowledged Crown Prince Abdullah as sovereign of the country … after which the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and ruler of Saudi Arabia King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz chose Prince Sultan as crown prince and the family members acknowledged that,” the statement said.
It’s King Fahd. There are rumors that he’s already dead. “He didn’t go to hospital. He had a medical examination. Nothing has changed,” one Saudi source said after rumours the monarch had fallen ill or even died helped depress Saudi shares by nearly five percent in Wednesday morning trade. A Western diplomat said he had heard “flat denials” from senior Saudi officials that Fahd’s health had deteriorated. The Saudi Stock Market dropped 4.7 % today after the rumor spread.

Well, I think that King Fahd has passed away, and what could happend to his country is something very difficult to imagine. It’s better the USA became aware that could be a big confront in Saudi Arabia for the throne.
And may be the end of friendship between the two coutries.
Congratulations for your repport from a distant contry, Brazil.

Inna lillah-i-wa inna ilaihi rajeoon … I may not know him personally but his hard work towards promotion of Muslim Ummah , religion Islam be an inspiration for us all. May Allah Accept his efforts and may Allah keep his work continued forever and guide people through it. May Allah help us all and guide us all to do something similar to earn spendings for our Qabr and rewards for our eternal life inshaAllah. O Allah, Accept from us our efforts and Guide us all to do all efforts to become Imam for the Mutaqeen. Ameen As for his family i pray that they are bless with Sabr and i remind them that “every” single living being has to go back to meet his Lord and the Prophet SAW said, patience is what u do at the start of a trial, so please be patient as there is no other way but if u accept what Allah wanted then u will be rewarded for it (interpretation of a hadith).
The King is dead, long live the King. Loke other monarchies the transition period will be smooth unlike expectations by others. Saudis royal family follow a strict system where the eldest has the respect and loyalty of those younger than him even by months.
The only problem is that Saudi system is different from other monarchies in one aspect, throne is passed from elder brother to his younger brother, a stage has been reached where youngest brother is in his 60’s, there has been no mechanism to transfer throne to the new generation, a long que of princes are waiting for their turn which may never come. It is a dilemna that must have a solution within the al-Saud family.
From corruption to corruption. Nothing will change in Arabia or the Muslim ummah until the corrupt Saud royal family is no longer in power
