Update: Niqash thinks that this post might put someone's life in danger. Therefore, I decided to remove the news clip and the translation from here. Even though I know that this will not remove the original content from the Internet cache, but that's out of my control...

ya sabah,
i happen to be the english editor of http://www.niqash.org — you are reporting a hoax. akhbar al-khaleej has reported something that they now had to take off their site – the reporter “adnan ali” doesn’t even exist.
“niqash” is funded by the german foreign office & part of it by UNESCO.
feel free to browse our site(s) …
and next time you just copy/paste an article … you might want to check if it’s actually true.
MU’AMMARAH KABIIRAH … even in bahrain.
shame on you.

Dear Sabbah,
as the english editor of http://www.niqash.org, I have to inform you that you have fallen victim to a hoax.
Niqash is, of course, not funded by the Mossad, nor do we have any sort of contacts to them. My Palestinian editor-in-chief would be the first one to object to that – I can ASSURE you of that. Her family are 48ers – you know what that means.
We are funded by the German Foreign Office & UNESCO.
By the way, Germany was (& still is) against the Iraq War & the foreign occupation of Iraq …
I strongly urge you to take this off your blog and/or write a correction – this story is severely endangering the lives of our Iraqi journalists in Iraq.
If you are still skeptical about what we do – feel free to read our website and listen to the radio shows, which are all archived on the site.
I am sorry that you fell for the story of “Akhbaar al-Khaleej” – who, btw, have taken it off their site. The German Foreign Office and the German Ambassador to Iraq will, shortly, send out their own letter to the relevant “news” organizations.
Sincerely,
–Matthias S. Klein

I am the head of the NGO MIC together with my collegue Klaas Glenewinkel. We founded the project niqash with financial funding from the German Foreign Ministry and in cooperation with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation. I have never met a person with the name Naomi Cohen nor did I have contact with the Israeli Mossad, nor did anybody from the team had contact of this kind. If you are interested in correct Information about our projects please call: 00962-6-4657676, 00962-79-6128051 and check the information on the Website http://www.niqash.org
Being responsable for the project niqash we will engage in research about institutions and persons that spread this kind of false information. So far it was not possible for us to find out who Naomi Cohen might be nor to find out about contact data of Adnan Ali who wrote the article in the Akhbar Alkhaleej without contacting us or anybody related to the project beforehand.
Matthias, it sounds odd how you changed your tone between your first comment and second one, and bouncing between professionalism and personal attacks. Anyway…
I’m not reporting anything here. Quoting someone does not mean that I fell for it, unless you don’t know what blogs are. It’s a quote from a newspaper…
As for Akhbar Alkhaleej dropping it from their site or not, that is not my business, that is their business. On the other hand, if they publish saying that they deny what they initially published, I would be happy to quote them saying that.
Having said all that, and as you can see your comments as well Anja’s are published here, that’s all what it takes to claim your version of the story.
Anyway, blogsphere is open for everyone to say what they want freely.
Hint: If you have a press release to reply to Akhbar Alkhaleej, send it my way and I’ll update the above post to show your official reply.
Dear Sabbah,
where exactly have I attacked you personally? Was it where I mentioned that you’re part of the “mu’ammarah kabiira” mindset? Or was it where I said “shame on you”?
The first comment was written right after I had seen your post – & since our colleagues in Iraq are LITERALLY endangered by the news article and your blog post, I am sure you will understand that I was “somewhat” emotional. If our colleagues in Iraq are harmed or killed because someone read you blog & believed the story – particularly after you wrote “No more comments. Occupying Iraq always served the Israeli interests.” underneath your translation – then you will be responsible, too.
This is not “Counterstrike” — real people’s real lives are in danger. Would you also have just copied this “news” article if your cousin or your sister were one of Niqash’s journalists?
It is interesting that you quote this particular article – it’s not like your blog is a complete aggregation of Middle East news stories.
And as for your comment “that’s all what it takes to claim your version of the story” — this is not about everybody’s “version of a story”, and there are no “relative truths”. We have NO connection to the Mossad. We never got any money from Spain. Nobody here has ever heard of, let alone spoken with any “Naomi Kohin/Cohen” person. That’s not our “version” – that’s what IS.
Of course, the blogosphere is a free world – and we’re ALL glad about that. But that doesn not take away your HUMAN responsibility. I truly hope you will never be in a situation where you are maligned or misrepresented or smeared.
Yours,
–Matthias S. Klein

I don’t want to be responsible to hurt anyone. Post modified here. Anything outside this blog is out of my control.
My offer is still valid. If you have an official press release, I’ll be happy to publish it if you think that helps.
Peace.
