Yahoo added blogs to its news search engine Tuesday so that blog links now appear next to news stories from major media web sites, further institutionalizing what was once mainly a grassroots publishing phenomenon.

Yahoo Adds Blog News to Yahoo News Search

The main page of Yahoo News Search now displays results with mainstream news media results on the left while blogs are displayed on the right.

Right now there’s really, really not a lot of blogs being found in the news search when you consider how many blogs are actually out there, but this number should grow over time. I see it as a nice way to get more viewpoints on stories I might be undecided on, etc.

Nice to see how quickly they’ve implemented it. This is excellent news for bloggers and independent journalists around the world. :)
