A Syria-based rights group said that state authorities “made up” a scenario involving a distraught woman who claimed that she had been beaten in order to put pressure on a prominent human rights activist and lawyer -Anwar Al Bunni.” A woman threw herself on the ground at the Damascus high court shouting that she had been beaten by lawyer Anwar Bunni,” the Arab Organization for Human Rights (AOHR) said. AOHR added: “This story was completely fabricated by the authorities in order to put pressure on human rights activists and prevent them from uncovering violations committed in the country.”
