Mr. Bush, This Is Pro-Life?

Written by Haitham Sabbah on 26. October 2005, 1325hrs // Part of Haitham Sabbah's adventure in Bleeding Edge, Failures, Human Rights // Other posts by Haitham Sabbah

If only President Bush could see the results of withholding funds from the U.N. Population Fund. Somewhere in the world, a pregnant woman dies like that about once a minute, often leaving a handful of orphans behind. Call me nave, but I think that if Mr. Bush came here and saw women dying as a consequence of his confused policy, he would relent. This can’t be what he wants - or what America stands for. One Response to “Mr. Bush, This Is Pro-Life?”

    Lulu Says:

Unfortunately, I don’t think Bush would relent, even if he did see the consequences of his policies. What proof do we have that Bush is willing to change his policies because of other people’s suffering or even loss of life?
The pro-life issue is one of internal politics that could sway a lot of people in or out of the Republican party’s favor. Bush needs to put up the front of being a devout, religious man in order to stay aligned with his voter base.
Thanks for the link to the Kristof article.
