Unfurling banners and handing out leaflets, a score of Reporters Without Borders activists demonstrated outside the Algerian embassy in Paris today to mark Algerian newspaper editor Mohamed Benchicouï¿½s 500th day in prison.

The algerian newspaper editor Mohamed Benchicou and his companion The Algerian cartoonist Ali Dilem are also known as berber activists.
They both opposed President Bouteflika specially because he refused to make the berber language (aka Amazigh) as official language in Algeria in the same level than Arabic. The berbers in Algeria are about 15% of the Algerian population.
