A heartwarming gesture from the parents of a Palestinian boy killed by Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF).

Now, the child’s family has decided to donate his organs to Israeli children. “Despite the pain, they made a very courageous decision,” the boy’s uncle, Jamal Khatib, told Israel Television. “This is part of our culture. As Muslims,” he said, “we can tell the world that we are not terrorists.”
The boy’s father said the donated heart, lung, kidneys and liver would save Jewish lives.
“Israeli children are our children,” he said. “We are doing this because we believe in peace.”
Background:
Ahmad Ismail Khatib, 11 years old, was playing with friends in the alleys of Jenin refugee camp, while in the upper neighbourhood the Israeli army was practicing their daily routine of breaking into houses and arresting people.
The children were imitating soldiers by aiming wooden sticks at each other as if they were rifles. Ahmad was holding his new wallet intending to buy a tie for his school uniform. He happened to be among the playing children.
The first IOF bullet hit his hip. The second IOF bullet hit his head. It, certainly, does not look like a mistake. The bullet was aimed to kill Ahmad.
Later on the soldier claimed that he mistook the child for a sniper.
As a “gesture of good will“, IOF allowed the wounded child to cross the checkpoint on his way to his death.
Laying “Rambam”, an Israeli hospital in Haifa. Ahmad’s heart was beating but Ahmad is dead. Today, the breathing machine was disconnected.
The Army spokesman apologized for killing the boy.
According to Palestine Red Crescent Society figures, 682 Palestinian children under the age of 18 have died during the second Intifada (uprising) between 29 September 2000 and 29 September 2005. Of those, 158 were under 12-years old. More stats and figures here.

Notice none of the big news organizations like CNN picked up even the story of the shooting. Even the BBC that picked up the story of the shooting still hasn’t picked up this one.
Thanks for using the correct acronym; IOF for occupation.
Ohhh
I know one Khatib in Palestine.
God be with him !!
???? ???? ???????
I saw this on al-Jazeera or something. This is truly an act of kindness. May God have mercy on the soul of the young one, and bless his family.
I have no religion or faith…but I’am a parent. This story really touched my heart. I hope Ahmad’s family know that there are people out there that are thinking about them.
The story of the donation of the organs of Ahmed Ismail Khadib was the subject of an editorial in the Los Angeles Times, on this date, November 10, 2005. As one who believes in Peace with Justice, and has became weary of the ongoing conflict and discouraged by the fractious elements in the Palestinian state, and most recently by the comments coming from Iran, I am grateful to the parents of this poor boy for demonstrating again to me, that all is not lost…. that people of good will go beyond their personal grief to help others, and see this as an expression of their religious faith! As long as people like the Khadibs, acting out of religious faith, can bring hope out of despair, the Peace Process remains alive. As a secular humanist, as one of Jewish heritage, I salute the Khadibs and their faith, Islam. I will remember this when the shadows of conflict obscure the light, and await the dawn of a Just and lasting Peace…. Peace with Justice!
Who wouldn’t love peace? Who wouldn’t prefer to live and share prosperity?
God bless your soul, Ahmad, and all martyrs.
A movie has been made of this story, “The Heart of Jenin”
