A Sonic Boom Life

It is really pain to hear what our people are going through. Our sister, um Yousuf tells us what it feels like living night after night under "sonic booms". She says:

I have come to learn to fear the night. I am a grown adult. I am a mother. But yesterday, I am not ashamed to say, I had my mother sleep with me in bed, and we clung to each other like frightened children as Israeli F-16s once again shook the earth we live on.

Exactly 1 second before the dawn call to prayer, it began. My head hurts thinking about them now, so I'm going to make this brief. I have severe migranes now that won't go away. Yesterday night I developed cramps and nausea. If there was ever a way to expose an entire civilian population to torture, this is it.

And she asks:

My question is: why? Why PUNISH all of Gaza's Palestinians? Is it to make us all so afraid we can't close our eyes? To beg for mercy? To make it want to stop at any expense? IT is cruel. It is inhumane. It is collective punishment. It is psychological terror and torture in its rawest most disturbing form. And so the war on Gaza continues.terror and torture.

Raising Yousuf: a diary of a mother under occupationum Yousuf is raising her son:

Knowing he was always there at the end of the day to give me his little koala hug and wet smooches, no matter how many terrible things have been. Being unable to imagine my life without him. Knowing, how wonderful life, now that he’s in the world….

But that's not all. Here is more horrifying news to cheer-up the warmonger. This time with , lovers of sonic booms. Four Palestinians die due to sound-bombs and shelling in Gaza Strip:

Some 77 people, especially children and elderly women, rushed to the hospital after the attack, suffering from nausea and confusion, some of whom were transferred to a specialist care centre for treatment of the nervous system. Some of the more serious cases involved internal bleeding in the brain and five pregnant women lost their babies as a direct result of the sound-bomb attack – a new Israeli tactic known to traumatize and induce miscarriages.

The surprising thing is that you will always hear some voices (like the one leaving comments on Laila's post) who tries to justify this terror act by Israeli army. What is the point in asking "do you consider us (Israelis and Jews) to be people?" and "why don't we hear Palestinians condemn attacks on Israeli civilians?”

So, what is the point of such an argument? Yes, we consider the Israelis and Jews to be people. Do you consider Palestinians to be people? Yes, we always condemn attacks on civilians? Do you condemn attacks on Palestinians civilians?

See, the answer is simple. It is called "treat a like." You can't expect Palestinians not to retaliate when the Israeli army attacks their people. And you can't expect the Israelis not to retaliate when a Palestinian attack the Israelis. I'll not go into the question of "the chicken or the egg", but the problem shows it tales when you see the trailing marks of blood in Tel Aviv streets, but unfortunately there is no trailing marks of "sonic booms", it just disappears in few seconds, unless you visit the hospitals and the grave yards to have a look at the victims.

A sonic boom is the audible component of a shock wave in air.The Israelis do it after midnight and then every one or two hours. You try to go to sleep and then there’s another one. When it happens night after night you become exhausted. You get a heightened sense of alert, waiting continuously for it to happen. People suffer hypertension, fatigue, sleeplessness. Then you expect them to set still, you see. They are animals!

Gaza disengagement? Yes. But you know what? The removal of Jewish settlers from the Gaza Strip has opened the way for this new terror tactic being deployed against the Palestinians:

The military had to apologize for disturbing the sleep of Israeli citizens. The sound had not been intended for their ears. It had somehow escaped from a series of confined sonic booms being inflicted on Palestinian citizens in the Gaza Strip hundreds of kilometers away. So if they thought the bang was loud in Tel Aviv, you can imagine the sound in Gaza, where shockwaves have also cracked walls and smashed thousands of windows.

The news headlines today say that Sharon had a 'peaceful night' after stroke, while Palestinians went out to celebrate his illness:

"On the streets of Gaza City, some masked Palestinians from the Popular Resistance Committees militant group fired into the air and handed out pastries to passing motorists in apparent celebration of the Israeli leader's ill health. Some made "V" for victory signs with their hands." The sweet unbiased, "Fox News" reports.

Update: After all, some Israelis also rejoiced at this news. Not only in Israel, but also at New York.

Now, do I blame these Palestinians? For god sake, are they suppose to pray for his early recovery? Do I expect Yousef to send him flowers? And if the Pals should, will you please take down the wall blocking the road?
