Al Jazeera has invited few bloggers from around the world and the Middle East (I’m one of them) for a conference at Qatar, later this month. Hope this will give another push to Arab bloggers.

aldostoor, a popular egyptian opposition weekly dedicated a page to republishing posts from the egyptian blogsphere. the thing lasted for 9 issues, then copyrights issues and aldostoor summarizing some posts and editing others lead to complaints and it ended on a bad note.

in their new year’s issue they had a page with an article explaining the idea of blogging and the variety of blogs on the egyptian blogsphere, and a couple of blog posts written exclusively for the paper to avoid past complaints.

also, after heikal’s priase of the egyptian blogger baheyya on his aljazeera show, aljazeera made a short program about blogs.

34 days of war by the Terrorist State of Israel on Lebanon. The world can’t understand why Hezbollah has got all this support locally, from the Arab world as well all around the world. Yesterday it was Hamas and today it is Hezbollah. Both of which I personally don’t agree with as strategy, but they remain our brothers. So if our cousins (in Arab culture, we consider Israelis and Jews as our cousins) decide to kill my brothers, I feel no shame to defend my brothers and stand by them. In fact this is my duty.
