Erotic Star Academy

If you want to be notified the next time I write something, sign up for FREE email alerts or subscribe to the RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

I can't describe what I saw. So, let the pictures talk:

Slut Academy (a.k.a. Star Academy)

Update!

Welcome to Slut Star Academy 3!

I won't be surprised if next time I see them having group sex LIVE on TV. That would be interesting "lesson" to watch their teachers instructing them and make sure that the STARS are following safety instructions, and wearing condoms!!!

Want more? See more photos here.

Wow, these guys and girls are so cute and adorable and are an idol for our Arab nation. God Bless them!

PS. Because I'm a bad boy, and because I used "dirty" words in the title and the post, I was told by SugarCubes that this post is blocked in UAE, and she can't add comments. Sorry SC :-(

It seems blogs are not the only thing spreading around the world… :p
While agree with you that this is tasteless garbage, I think that by focusing on the lightly sexual undertones, you are missing the greater tragedy. Why does a phenomenon like Star Academy exist and grow (successfully I must add.. it is a media franchise, like "Who wants to be a millionaire", et al)? It feeds on profound individual and societal insecurities, many of which are created by television in the first place, and now, full circle, people believe they can only truly be stars by being on television. And are willing to do whatever it takes. Of course it goes much deeper than this and further. Sex sells, remember. :(

This transcends all borders, be they political, cultural, racial. I must say I am really amazed to see Star Academy in your part of the world. Not surprised though really.

Also, my other impetus for commenting is that while I see the easy literal pun of replacing Star with Slut, I should point out that a) this is not reserved to women, b) the biggest money makers in this are males and c) you cannot condemn the exploited, no matter how stupid they may be. ;)
(I mean look at the guys in the photos you posted… mindless apes the lot of them! And if they weren't there, neither would the girls.. and vice versa… and if they weren't out there in TV audience-land, the show would shrivel up…)

    etc etc ;)

SO…does star academy and programs as such seek talent? should we blame LBC for broadcasting such programs? or should we blame the audience for accepting such filth to enter their living room every single day?

well, i guess their soooooo far away from Group sex … but i have to say , ,, taree2 el million km bebda b 5atwe ,, and this is the first step in supporting erotism on arabic tv channels like LBC ,,,etc .

    y3ne 3njd fadeeeee7a … where is the arab moral , ??

  6. Haitham | January 3, 2006 at 12:19 am | Permalink

Roba, I'm just hoping not to miss that when it happens… For god sake, there is something called morals and ethics, I can't see any of these in this half-naked belly dancing of the Slut Academy (Boris, slut girls and boys :-)).

Yes they are having fun, bitch's style, and the boys are not less.

My two boys asked me when they saw me talking the photos, "Dad, why are they naked and dancing like this in front the boys? Are they MARRIED?". Nooreldin is 7 years old and Yahya is 5. I could not answer them.

I think you're overreacting. I have always found the reaction of people in the Arab world to what's on satellite TV a bit strange, especially that in the 50s, 60s, 70s, and after that, Egyptian cinema always had highly erotic belly dancing in them. Is the problem that this is no longer the cinema, and that's it's availble in every home.

I find this stuff slly and tasteless. But I can't see half naked people, at least from the pics you posted.

And what the heck are your kids doing watching this kind of programming :). I too have 2 kids (seven and three). And, they watch their children channel for a few hours a day and that's it :)

    Naked?What naked?
    Bitching?Group sex?Oof oof oof!

Okay not in defence of this tastefull and crappy TV show…I don't see anything profain in these particular photos!

    Ba3deem leesh za3lan?El Jamhoor 3ayez Keda(yeah sure like there was a poll) :D, o jama3a tanyeh talbeen heek bardo ;) but it's u who is narrow minded,uncivilized,brainwashed,extremist,etc!

You aint cool unless you talk sleazy, wear low rise jeans making sure your G string sticks out, and know the name of JLo's a current husband, otherwise, yay shu hafartli enta!

Haitham, kids wanna act like what they see on TV!And Arab TV is nothing but 14 channels of Adult V.Clips running 24/7

The problem is that there is no alternative for teenagers to watch! It's only sports,V.Clips,Movies, stupid shows! Ya3ni 75% of their options are : oh u need to get sluty to be loved and accepted!
It's either you become fanatic and extremist, or trendy,cool,liberal,maye3 etc otherwise ur a geek, nerd, old fashioned.

Gal lets play dare or truth gal!

    Ahmad,

If you go to flickr her: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sabbah/sets/1730285/

I made the above poster randomly. I'm sure you will see more details :-)

    Man, you missed the show.

I agree with you that belly dancing is nothing new and we have it in most (if not all) Arab films, but this is not a film, and the way they were dancing and in groups, in really disgusting way.

PS. My kids caught me while watching the bitchy show, lol ;-)

  10. Haitham | January 3, 2006 at 1:33 am | Permalink

Yeah, yeah… tell me about it, Firas :-D

The devil in the details ;-)

I agree with what Boris said. It's all about money. Boris, we have a copy of most of the "Reality TV" shows, just name it!

  11. PALFORCE | January 3, 2006 at 2:20 am | Permalink

    Trashy as a show? Maybe

Sluts because of the belly dancing? No.

  12. Yazeed | January 3, 2006 at 3:05 am | Permalink

I'll add my voice to PALFORCE, you can't call these girls sluts for belly dancing, I didn't like the tags you added to the photos in flickr either, I don't think those photos qualify for "sex" tag.

  13. Haitham | January 3, 2006 at 9:42 am | Permalink

Yazeed, why can't I call them and tag them what I like?

Khaled, because they are belly-dancing like sluts, they are like sluts, not necessarily sluts, but I see them as sluts.

Ok, let me use another word, but in Arabic:

    ????

    (retrieved that, it's to harsh)

    Yeah, that sounds even better!

See guys/gals, I always said, I'm not against what such type of people likes to do. After all I respect their freedom to be what they are, but don't show us their dirty ass on a public TV. We are still Arab, Muslims and Christians, and we still have ethics and morals to look after, and such type of "Reality Shows" are not "Reality Life" in the Arab world. Reality is something different. If you are fighting for freedom, better fight for something worth it, democracy, freedom of speech, education, free media, etc… Not putting 'freedom of sexual' exercise as your top agenda.

I'll not go through the history of 'belly dancing' and what it is all about and why. But just a simple question, what do we learn from all existing "Reality Shows"?

C'mon, show us something that respects intelegant brains, and stop playing on human's sexual senses and call it "freedom".

    LOL,
Sabah you said: "cause they are belly-dancing like sluts, they are like sluts, not necessarily sluts, but I see them as sluts."

I didnt know there are different type of belly dancing, slut belly dancing , conservative belly dancing.

Anyways, Music videos shows worse,Arabic movies shows worse. You can't expect the Arabic audience to watch years and years of trash TV and then expect them to not get influanced by it.

I'm not defending Reality TV, I'm just saying its a product of Arabic TV. I have seen Arabic teens do worse than that in reality, then if so and this is a reality show, I dont see harm in showing it.
I mean there are Amr Khaled teens and there are belly dancing and hooka teens, TV is merely showing the both sides of the coin. I'm not gonna go around and calling those sluts and the others SHYOOKH, because if you remember one of those in Amr Khaled bunch had an affair or some kinda of scandel.
You can't feed kids bad TV all thier life and then expect them to become conservative teens. If we are going to play the judgement game here I would blame the government for all these junk shows, then blame the parents for allowing thier kids to watch such shows.

Last but not least, sex sells!
This kind of shows draw audience, those who likes it and those are shocked watching it, after all you watched it.

BTW, People in the west don’t watch as much TV as Arabs, back home TV is like a holy thing to do and we have loads of channels to surf through. A lot of studies claims TV kills creativity in kids, and go on saying you should limit the time and content of TV your kids should watch. There are a lot of subliminal messages for kids in their cartoons even, on things like it's OK to have a boy friend and so on, not to mention the violence. Ok I think I got side tracked, let me stop here :-)

    Salam

    hehehe…
    What's wrong with groupies?
They happen all over the region - from the Gulf to Morocco and they all come with a price tag.
Haitham.. sit back and enjoy the show, while welcoming development and modernization to your home ;)
If you find it distasteful, just switch off the TV or switch channels.
It is all about freedom of choice nowadays ;)

  18. james | January 3, 2006 at 6:09 pm | Permalink

First of all, I think you're over-reacting. I see nothing erotic in these pictures, just people dancing and having fun. "..belly dancing like sluts."? They're just dancing. By your logic, does this mean that every woman dancing in every nightclub in the Middle East is a slut?

Second,"If you are fighting for freedom, better fight for something worth it…"
You have to take the good with the bad. "Freedom" means just that, freedom. If you want to excersise freedom, change the channel. If you find something offensive, don't watch it. Go ahead and teach your children why you find it offensive, but if you believe in freedom, teach them why these shows should still be on the air.

Third, Does it really surprise you that LBC has a program with sexual overtones? I thought that was the only thing on their station. I've seen more belly dancing on the Pepsi stage in one evening than in an entire season of Star Academy.

Finally, I just find this a little bit ironic. Most of the blogs I read are about freedom and injustice and human rights, yet you would trample on these rights if they don't agree with your morality. Sound like a familiar tone

Wow compared to reality tv shows in the uk this is timid. For example this year on big brother you had a cross dressing belly dancing turk and a girl who ended up masturbating with a bottle and by the way she was half kuwati

  20. Fadi | January 3, 2006 at 7:19 pm | Permalink

I see a bunch of people dancing..
did i miss anything or am i just too liberal not to think that they r actually committing adultry!?

  21. Haitham | January 3, 2006 at 7:58 pm | Permalink

Guys/gals, just one note, I don't watch this shit. I was flipping over the channels when I saw what I don't like, toke some picture of it, and here it is. As I said before, they are free, LBC is free to show what they want, those guys and girls are free to show their ass, you are free to watch what you like, I'm free to call them what I like. I don't think I have to agree to your standards. You call them angels, I call them sluts. You have a problem with that, that is your problem not mine.

But one thing is pending, no body answered my question. What do these shows teach us? freedom? If this is how you like to call it, you are the right customer, enjoy it. However, does this fall under our ethics and morals? If you say yes, then you are again their targeted customer. Enjoy it! But while you do all of that, respect that other are also free to reject it and call it what they like.

Remember, this is a personal blog. I say what I feel and what I like. You are welcome to do the same, as long as you are not coming to teach me what is right and what is wrong.

    Enjoy the show!

PS. seems like majority like to discuss adultery topics. I remember I was discussing the subject with Silly Girl back in Ramadan. We both agreed that when an author spend hours write a worthy topic that touches sensitive subjects, say, economics, politics, etc… you won't hear a word. But when you write about something which I conceder 'time waster', you will get plenty of discussion going on.

Take for example the list of 'most popular post' on the right sidebar. These are generated automatically based on comments, referrer, trackbacks, etc… you will see that the most popular are Haifa boobs and Wafah porn, Hala nude, etc… This is interesting phenomena. I think it is worth the research, and shows who and what are people looking for still. SEX!!!

Ok, maybe I should turn this blog to adultery one ;-)

I believe that your question about the educational value of star academy is irrelevant, and that is why you do not have an answer yet!. I never heard or read anyone claiming any educational value of the show. Like most of what is on TV, it is made for entertaining (same as comedy shows, sports and music); does football teach us about the physics of ball kicking?
I personally watched it only once, didn’t like it and that was the end of it. I thought that Super Star is much more entertaining, tasteful and classy show.
There is so much on TV nowadays that I don’t believe someone would feel compelled to watch anything because of the lack of alternatives. Why the show is successful (if it is), that I would really like to know!

  23. james | January 4, 2006 at 7:31 pm | Permalink

Sorry to offend you, I'm not trying to teach you anything. I'm also just giving my personal opinion.
As to you question, Jameel has it right. There are no rules that say a program must be educational. I also don't watch the show (I don't speak Arabic and I don't watch "reality" shows) but I understand the value. After a grueling day, slaving over a hot stove for 16 hours (I'm a chef) it's nice to come home, have a couple of beers and unwind. It's just junk food for the mind, no nutritional value. As I said, I don't watch it, I prefer to follow the political shows on Orbit for my junk food. The same could be said for those progams, I'm not going to learn anything, no nutritional value. I simply want to be entertained.
If I want to learn something, I open a book.
Once again, sorry if I offended, not my purpose. I'm a firm beleiver in freedom
    James

  24. Haitham | January 4, 2006 at 8:07 pm | Permalink

Take it easy, James. I didn't mean you personally or anyone else here. Just speaking in general. And I'm glad that Jameel and you (I believe all others will) agreed that such shows teaches nothing, and they are nothing more than junk food for mind, as you say.

That is exactly what I was trying to bring attention to in the last part of my previous comment. In spite that we know that these shows are nothing more than 'junk', you will find that crowds and crowds of people spend their valuable time defending or whatever, yet when we talk about something more of a value, hardly anyone share his opinion.

This makes me wonder why? It is really depressing :-(

Anyway, I think I achieved the objective of this post. I had a bet with another blogger that saying what I said will bring controversy. Yet, I hoped that we come to the a conclusion, which is exactly what you and Jameel already presented. This was the aim of this post. Cheers ;-)

noor, this is a bit too late, you probably wont see this. but for the record, would you as a girl prance around and having guys feeling you on national television? would your mother allow you to join the show? would you be regarded as a respectful girl if you do what they are doing? i guess not. think about it. try not to be offensive because haitham is providing a point of view, just like you did. thank you
