An Italian court is tackling Jesus — and whether the Roman Catholic Church may be breaking the law by teaching that he existed 2,000 years ago.
This should be interesting. I’m all for a person’s right to believe whatever he or she deems necessary. However, atheists are beginning to get on my last nerve. If you don’t believe in a God-then why are you having to go to court to prove Jesus did or didn’t exist? If you don’t believe then why does it matter?
Of course, the debate has been going on for what, two thousand years now?
Actually, it seems to me that this lawsuit is nothing more than the atheist author using the public courts to market his book. How better to get free press than by initiating a lawsuit that would inevitably be reported around the world?
On the other hand, speaking of Jesus, the Israeli government is planning to give up a large slice of land to American Christian evangelicals to build a biblical theme park by the Sea of Galilee where Jesus is said to have walked on water and fed 5,000 with five loaves and two fish. Some Israelis fear motives of US Christian right.
The article suggests that some Israelis are opposed to the idea since they’re concerned that the television evangelist Pat Robertson and his crew would use the theme park to convert Jews to Christianity. hmmm.
