Reuters - Michael Jackson went shopping in Bahrain on Wednesday disguised as a traditional Arab woman, but if it was an attempt by the pop star to avoid attention, it failed.

A Reuters photographer saw him in a popular shopping mall in the center of the capital Manama all in black, with sunglasses, gloves, a veil covering his face and dressed in an abaya, or full-length robe — but with men's shoes peeping out below.

The 47-year-old seemed to be shopping for new shoes in the mall with three Western-looking children, their faces also covered, and an unidentified woman.

The children drew the attention of other shoppers, who quickly recognized the star who is popular in the Gulf region.

A Bahraini official at the mall confirmed that it was Jackson!

Who wanna bet that in no time, a new 'Abaya' fashion will come to the market called Jackson. Good business for the Asian tailors who fills the Gulf.

What an ironic life!

I thank ya'll should seriously quit hatin' on my baby, Michael Jackson. He was obviously disguised as a women to avoid all the attention he recieved in the US. He left there to enjoy freedom because of all the criticism he recieved here in the US. Michael has good reasons to be veiled as he was. He obviously don't want the attention but people don't know how to respect dat, but me. Leave my baby alone!!! He been through hell and is trying to escape it still!

If he really did disguise himself as a woman, he would not have worn those manly man shoes. His outfit was actually boring the haters just can't get enough of him they make up this exaggeration to give attention to his attire. I have seen real arab women in that attire and they don't wear it that way. They really become completely invisible and because Mike is a man and not arab you wouldn't expect him to know that.

I'm with Chihuahau Lopez. I think ya'll should quit hatin on my baby. Sorry chihuahua, I love him too. I think he just done that to get away from the living hell he was enduring here in the U.S. He is dead now. he died last week but his legacy will never die and people won't quit being so stubborn about the child thing. I don't think he done that. he always said he loved children and God Bless You and everything. He seemed very nice. His music was awesome. I can't bring myself to believe that he done any of that. My sister agrees with me. He was just trying to give kids with cancer and luekimea a good life that he never had. He let them stay with them at his amusement park and his zoo and go into his house because he was very popular back then (And still is to me) and kids loved him. It was their dream to meet Michael Jackson. he was just giving cancer victims their dreams. he said he slept in the floor and let the kids use his bed. i don't know very much but I know that people got their wish, he's dead now. :'(
