A disabled Palestinian teenager has been shot dead by Israeli troops during clashes near the northern West Bank city of Jenin.
Palestinian security forces said Israeli soldiers shot and killed Mujahid Samadi, a retarded 15-year-old Palestinian boy who was carrying a toy gun, on Wednesday.
When did you last hear of the Palestinian extra-judicially executions?
Unfortunately, the last couple of months were so busily full of noise (some of which were good), we could hardly follow the daily crimes and attacks of the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) on Palestinian civilians and property in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT).
I went to check what used to be my weekly read; the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) Weekly Report, and I was shocked by the number of victims, specially of last week. Here is a quick review:
Week of 29 Dec. 2005 - 04 Jan. 2006:
- 5 Palestinians were killed by IOF.
- Two of the victims were extra-judicially executed by IOF.
- 29 Palestinian civilians, including 19 children, were wounded by IOF.
- IOF conducted 25 incursions into Palestinian communities in the West Bank.
- Houses were raided and 30 Palestinian civilians, including 9 children and a girl, were arrested by IOF.
- 4 Palestinians, including a woman and her son, were killed by IOF in the West Bank.
- One of the victims was extra-judicially executed by IOF in Jenin.
- 18 Palestinian civilians, including 10 children, were wounded by IOF.
- IOF conducted 54 incursions into Palestinian communities in the West Bank.
- Houses were raided and 94 Palestinian civilians, including 11 children, were arrested by IOF.
- 3 Palestinians, including 1 child, killed by IOF.
- 4 Palestinian civilians, including 2 children, wounded by IOF.
- IOF conducted 88 incursions into Palestinian communities in the West Bank.
- Houses were raided and 65 Palestinian civilians, including 6 children and 3 females, were arrested by IOF in the West Bank.
- 9 children detained by IOF in the Gaza Strip, while attempting to infiltrate into Israel.
Week 26 January- 01 February 2006:
- 3 Palestinians, including 1 mentally-handicapped child, killed by IOF.
- 13 Palestinian civilians, including 1 child, wounded by IOF.
- IOF conducted 27 incursions into Palestinian communities in the West Bank.
- Houses were raided and 53 Palestinian civilians, including 6 children, arrested by IOF in the West Bank.
- 11 Palestinians were extra-judicially killed by IOF.
- 27 Palestinian civilians, including 17 children, were wounded by IOF.
- IOF conducted 40 incursions into Palestinian communities in the West Bank.
- Houses were raided and 78 Palestinian civilians, including 12 children, were arrested by IOF.
Child… child… child… want more? Here is more…
797 Palestinian children Killed by Occupation Forces During Al Aqsa Intifada - Risalat Al Hoqouq Center for Human Rights reports (RCHR):
Israeli military attacks in the occupied Palestinian territories have overwhelmingly impacted Palestinian children according to a report released Sunday by the Risalat Al Hoqouq Center for Human Rights.
Since the beginning of the Aqsa Intifada on September 29, 2000 up to December 31, 2005, Israeli troops have killed 797 Palestinian children, including infants, and injured thousands, mainly with live ammunition. Dozens of the injured children now suffer permanent disabilities.
Several human rights organizations in Palestine have reported that most Palestinian children who were killed by the Israeli army died during aerial strikes on residential areas or during Israeli assassinations of Palestinian activists.
In the last month of 2005, several Israeli officials claimed that most of the Palestinian children killed by the army died when soldiers felt their lives were in danger.
On the contrary, says Risalat al Hoqouq, the vast majority of children killed and injured during Israeli air strikes refute these allegations. It says the documented Israeli violations of UN resolutions and international human rights charters point to a pattern of behavior by the Israeli military that makes children primary targets and victims of Israeli military operations.
A large number of children were killed at or close to home in addition to many children who were killed at school or while walking to or from school.
The Risalat Al Hoqouq report called on the international community to pressure Israel into respecting its obligations under international law vis--vis protecting civilian populations under occupation and to implement the Fourth Geneva Convention regarding the protection of children in areas of conflict.
The center said the Israeli army has continuously violated the rights of Palestinians by its illegal occupation of Palestinian land in which children have paid the heaviest price. It also noted that Israel has never respected the approximately 150 UN resolutions condemning illegal occupation or any treaties regarding human rights in the occupied territories through continuing to illegally occupy the Palestinian territories and target children in their daily military practices.

What exactly does your posted photograph have to do with this story?
Is that the young man who was killed?
If not, why have you chosen this particular image?
Ali,
Do you know anything other than being the unnecessarily NEGATIVE person here?
I'm sorry I can't help you relate the picture with my post because it actually does not need more than IQ 70 to understand and relate. But since you insist, if your mouse flyover the picture, it will tell you the story of it. You see, child… suffer… abuse… killing…
Honestly, I'm trying since long to avoid replying to your comments coz I find nothing of a value in them. Only …. comments, which leads to nowhere but a flame-war. If this is what you aim to do here, rest in peace, you will be the first one to be kicked off.
This is nothing personal here!
I share your question Ali. Based on the press account, it appears that this photo has no bearing on the incident and is offered solely to inflame already heightened passions. It is tragic that a mentally impaired 15-year-old with what erroneously appeared to be a gun would be allowed to wander into an ongoing clash. His death underscores the horror of war, but this photo does nothing to promote serious discussion of the issues. Ali, it will be sad to see you ejected — another example of Muslim free speech and debate I suppose.
Haitham, Palestinian children are subject to one of the most brutal acts of oppression and murder that any child has ever lived to suffer in today's world. Not only that, but they are subject to worldwide negligance that is sustained by pro-zionist intimidation tactics. Naseem had a link to a good article on EI that talked about the ongoing betrayal of Palestinian children by the world community.
Not only are hundreds of Palestinian children killed and injured on their own land, on their way to school or home or while playing with their friends, the rest of them who might be lucky enough to be saved from physical harm still lead lives smeared with the kind of trauma and stress that even adults living in other countries in the world who take their freedoms and civil liberties for granted would find hard to cope with.
You'd wish this [the boy's murder] was the only incident or the only type of incidents that Palestinian children are subjected to. Some school children can no longer play in their school's backyard because there is an apartheid barrier going right through its private land. Some have to walk hand in hand with their teacher to get past Israeli Occupation check points on their way to class.
Israel's continuing occupation of Palestinian land is undeniably the number one cuase and the biggest cause for all the trouble that is stirring in Palestine today, yet it is always pushed to the back of the list whenever discussions about the subject arise. This comes with no surprise giving that the pro-zionist machine is working full time trying to divert everybody's attention away from the main cause of this struggle (ie. the occupation and apartheid), and diverting the public's eyes from looking towards the side that is causing this problem and that happens to be the more enabled side in this conflict, and that is the government of Israel. The double standards that are being applied by Israel's apologists get ugglier by the day, and no matter how hard Israel's apologists try to point the finger towards what double standards that exist in the Arab and Muslim worlds, none of them compare in to those double standards that allow Israel to get away with its murdering of Palestinians and stealing of their land and property and depriving them from their rights every day.
My the indifferent rot in hell for that.
If this was happening in Serbia we'd have bombed them years ago. Double standards are in play here big time. THIS is what gets the Muslim world going, the shear injustice and hypocrisy.
Ali, Joachim -
You're right. If you remove the picture, the statistics just become a list of numbers representing lesser beings that absolutely don't matter…
It is your comments that particularly underscore the horrors of war, and do quite an injustice to those who have been unjustly killed in perpetuity.
The article is clearly about children, and therefore it substatiates being accompanied by a picture of a child. Given that Haitham went through the trouble of attaching a comment to the picture itself, where do you wish to go with your argument? Western media uses images that don't directly correlate with texts and/or voiceovers all of the time, and often in a directly manipulative manner. Hardly what Haitham is doing here. And you single him out for being Muslim? The only manipulation here is in your response to given facts.
this goes to ali and joachim…i find it disrespectful to judge the picture haitham has put above.first of all its the least thing of misery shown in the picture …if u two would just be more educated and neutral with ur negative mentality you'd actually understand what haitham wants to tell us…when you hear news or get proper informations you'd know that every child in palestine will sooner or later be shot by the israeli army and that they even kill small kids, infants and very young babies…if you both are not satisfied with this picture i can send you a real picture from a shot baby who was even younger than 9 months old..it has been shot almost right after his birth and this IS SO INHUMANE !!! the israeli and british soldiers show the best example of how inhumanity …they are killing mashines and dont have a conscious of killing innocent babies, women and even men…what do the civilians have to do with all this? when its all the fault of the government? i mean imagine u guys (ali and joachim) meet a woman ( each of you different surely) then she gets pregnant and your baby is born…then suddenly you see soldiers coming and shooting you in ur leg and shooting ur born baby and ur wife infront of your eyes??? i mean common guys this is what is happening …the britians and the israelis have been murderers since they exist…and incase you want a more realistic picture just tell me and i will show you what is truely happening but has been NOT shown on tv or elsewhere. so next time just think of a better comment because both of you got nothing true to say…just want to be against what people say here…
Bravo Ali. Your crap is deleted now. I hope you feel better.
People like you should be reminded the difference between personal blog and a public forum, you can practice your "freedom of speech" as far as it is polite and respect the visitors of this blog and it's owner. Other than that, you can practice your "freedom of speech" somewhere else, maybe in your blog, no one can stop you from doing a blog just to paste all what you like to say, in the form and style that you like, since you don't like my style.
So, GET LOST!
BBC reports that he is 20 years old. Some people out there are thinking that this makes it suddenly justifiable. The fact is, even if he had a real a gun in his hand his murder wouldn't be justifiable, why? Because he's not the one occupying the soldiers' land, they are occupying his and shot him in it too.
Last week, a 25 year old woman was shot dead by Israeli Occupation Forces in Gaza. Next week probably one or two more people are gonna be gunned down by the occupation forces too. It's been going on consistently for a long time now on almost a weekly basis.
This is the occupation that some people out there defend and try to ignore.
Haitham,
You have my apology.
see i dont really understand whats so heard to predict on this picture. i have really nothing to say for i believe that gin and haitham have pulled the words out of my mind.
regards and thanks
Apology accepted, Ali.
Who is really the occupier
According to the Islamic sharia, he status of the entire Palestine and all the other lands conquered by Islam by force, are Waqf lands upon their conquest, for all generations of Muslims. “The ownership of the land by its owners [when they are permitted ] is only one of usufruct, and this Waqf. Any demarche in violation of this law of Islam, with regard to Palestine, is baseless and reflects on its perpetrators.”
(Article 11 from hamas charter)
I don't hope my comment will be published at all, really. It is out of the assembly line, so you will hide it.
