The developing situation in Iraq is moving too fast and filling more column inches than a roundup can satisfy. Here is a summary of the blog events since Thursday. It is at times like this you can see that blogging comes into its own above other journalism. There is no other medium that can give you the feel of people’s opinions and emotions in almost real time… A must read roundup at Global Voices by our Iraqi author, Salam Adil.

May God protect Iraq and Iraqis from a civil war, Amen!

    Haitham,
I just linked to your must read and saw Bahgdad Alcohol's Sponge contention that it's the Saudis. I PROMISE I will not be offended if you can try to explain this one. Believe me, I know really bad creepy people exist everywhere, but I don't exactly get the logic of this assertion. Not naive, just uninformed.

    Haitham,
Your link above, "must read", takes you to Global Voices-Update Samara catastrophe. Scroll down to the "Baghdad Alcohol Sponge has a rare moment of lucidity, the word on the streets is that it's the Saudi's firing up strife between the Sunni and the Shiia". Like I said, I don't put anything past ANYONE, but my question is WHY would the Saudis want to do this and which Saudis are they referring to? Government interests or Bin Laden? I just get a WEE bit defensive because anytime someone says SAUDIS again that jump to lumping them all into one basket bothers me. I'm just trying to get a handle on the dynamics of the assertion.
    Thanks, With Peace :)

Well, I guess best one to answer your question would be the author of that post, which happens to be:

Thanks Haitham. I emailed him and hope he gets back to me. His profile says he's 104 years old so I hope he doesn't wait too long or it might be too late. HaHa!
