Three years after Saddam's statue collapse in Baghdad. While figures in daily reports confirms that civil war as a fact, and despite the Iraqi official denial of that, and despite Mubarak 'stir of conflict', universities and scientist suffer no less than any other civilians:
A "campaign of violence" is being waged against Iraqi academics, according to the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, which has called for international solidarity and action to protect the researchers.
The Belgium-based anti-war group, Brussels Tribunal, has compiled a list of 220 murdered academics and says hundreds more are missing and that thousands have been driven into exile.
It says nobody has arrested in connection with the murders, and that they appear to be non-sectarian.
Matsuura said Iraq has a long tradition of academic excellence. "By targeting those who hold the keys to Iraq's reconstruction and development, the perpetrators of this violence are jeopardizing the future of Iraq and of democracy," he said.
This is the war for freedom. Freedom of everything; peace, justice, education, economy, democracy, etc. In fact, best description of the situation now comes in a popular joke from the dark Iraqi humor, which says: "Our one tyrant is gone, but now there are a thousand new dictators."

The USA took Nazi and Japanese scientists after WWII and so did the USSR. Those scientists transfered the knowledge they had.
Now, if you can’t get this scientist to emigrate to help you (in Israel or the USA), do you leave a reservoir of dangerous knowledge hanging around?
