News that don't make News, at least not for the newsmakers of the West.
Here is some for your weekend reading.
I wish I can say "enjoy reading" but honestly, nothing joyful in what they report!
1. The Council for the National Interest Foundation putting full page ad on the Israeli lobby in the NY Times. Worth reading and joining them in their action plan. (right-click picture, save, download and read one page PDF ad)
2. Nuclear advertisement highlights influence of Israel lobby in US April 10 2006, Financial Times (UK).
Sir, The full-page advertisement from the American Jewish Committee on the "threat" from Iran's missiles to the world's countries (April 5) serves the cause of the neo-conservatives in Washington and Israel who are itching to overthrow the Iranian government…
4. Israeli war crimes continue using US taxpayer money and with support of a Israeli occupied Capitol Hill. Gaza families watch in awe and fear as Israelis pour in 300 shells a day, By Conal Urquhart in Beit Lahiya, Gaza, The Guardian, 12 April 2006 (photos from Rafah Report here)
5. On Tuesday April 11, 20 young Jewish people gathered in Boston to challenge the organized Jewish community to drop their support of violation of Palestinian Human rights this passover season. The event was held outside the building that houses the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and Boston's Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC). Photos at
wikimedia.org. This involved the same good folks that brought this great educational program: birthrightunplugged.org
6. "There is No Remedy Against the Language of Truth" By ROBERT FISK, The Independent, April 6, 2006 "..the head of the Iranian Jewish Committee, Haroun Yashayaie, wrote to Ahmadinejad provided part of the answer. 'The Holocaust is not a myth any more than the genocide imposed by Saddam (Hussein) on Halabja or the massacre by (Ariel) Sharon of Palestinians and Lebanese in the camps of Sabra and Chatila,' Yashayaie–who represents Iran's 25,000 Jews–said." counterpunch.com
7. The Uber-Wardens, By Amira Hass, Haaretz, 12 April 2006 (how Israeli occupation is choking the last reminants of life in the remaining Palestinian ghettos/cantons).
8. Iran Showdown Tests Power of Israel Lobby By Jim Lobe, Inter Press Service, 12 April 2006.
9. Israeli forces storm the headquarters of the Greek Orthodox Church.
10. Jeff Blankfort comments on the Israel's lobby influence in DC.
Finally, a quote:
'First they came for the Communists, but I was not a Communist, so I said nothing. Then they came for the Social Democrats, but I was not a Social Democrat, so I did nothing. Then they came for the trade unionists, but I was not a trade unionist. And then they came for the Jews, but I was not a Jew, so I did little. Then when they came for me, there was no one left to stand up for me.' Rev. Martin Niemöller on the Nazi regime.

Haitham,
I have come to very much appreciate your efforts to consolidate the alternative news, to link and lead us to reports outside and even within the mainstream media.
I was led to read Chomsky's response to the Harvard article on the Israeli lobby in the U.S., as well as Blankfort's.
Great reading to round out the arguments; even better to leading to futher research.
What has been transpiring in Gaza of late I recall in the not-so-distant past of 2004, except now there is a much decreased chance of the Palestinians making any substantial response. The removal of the settlers has provided Israel a clean and open testing ground for their military investments.
Also, to now target leaders of the church. Dare I say that the Orthodox leaders in Palestine have not always acted in the best interests of the Palestinians (in the sale of church-held land to Israeli developers), but it appears that this has won them no immunity in Israel's eyes.
The final quote by Niemoller is quite fitting, and should never be forgotten. Thanks for reissuing it here.
It didn't make news because it wasn't news. It was just another peace of hateful propaganda designed to get one group to hate another.
That is nothing new.
Sorry but I didn't see this was the same post:
"‘The Holocaust is not a myth any more than the genocide imposed by Saddam (Hussein) on Halabja or the massacre by (Ariel) Sharon of Palestinians and Lebanese in the camps of Sabra and Chatila"
But the massacre at Sabra has become mythical when you assign total blame to Sharon.
Chris,
You are correct that Sharon did not act alone, but that does not remove him from blame. In fact, the Israeli investigation into Sabra and Shatila not only found Sharon guilty, but the court recommended that he never hold any office of power again.
Your news really makes news. Who said this that news don't make news? Your efforts r praiseworthy. From Isareli forces to Iran test powers to America's war on the web. Everything is the news for inside and mainstream media.
