Sabbah Wrestling with Wordpress
Ok, it’s time to upgrade my blogging system (wordpress). I’ve been running with WP 1.5.1 Alpha (not even beta) for ages now, and I’m tired of hacking the code, although it was fun, but now it seems that the honeymoon is over, and things are getting broken very often. Keeping in mind that since WP 2.0 was out, most, if not all the old plugins coders have stopped fixing bugs of WP 1.5.1. plugins because they want to catch-up with the momentum of the new WP 2.0 and have their plugins ready and working with the new WP version.
So, I’ll be upgrading soon. Maybe in few days, in few weeks, I don’t know. I hope it goes smooth, but I’m sure few things will break here or there from time to time. Moreover, I’ve tested the existing theme (SabbahStyle) with WP 2.0 and unfortunately it was not compatible. This means that I’ll have to give-up on my theme, a theme which I worked very hard on to bring it to what you see as now. But, I can’t and will not give up on my over all ‘orange’ feeling. I will do my best to keep this look as I find it refreshing and neat. So, I’ll go discovering the open source themes and hack around them to get my new theme ready by the time I upgrade.
In short, appreciate your patients until this whole thing is over. And if you have any suggestion on features I should add/remove, nice thing(s) you saw elsewhere and you like to see here, please let me know and I’ll do my best to fit it around.
So, the quest begins. Hold tight and pray for safe landing

My only concern is to find and customize a theme so that I can use it later for my old hidden Arabic blog.

Why not upgrade to WordPress 1.5.2? Or for that matter, you can pull code from the 1.5.3 branch from the Subversion repository.
Actually, you can download only the changed files ( 1.5.2 to 1.5.3 )
hmmmm… interesting idea, Samir. Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll try it on my demo blog and see. However, I’m afraid that I’m going to hack some files again (I remember hacking few in wp-includes and other directories).
