Received an email requesting this:

Thanks to an amazing website I recently happened across, I have created a survey on internet trends in Bahrain. I am interested in documenting internet access and uses in Bahrain. I am asking that this survey only be taken by people actually living in Bahrain. Your participation in this study would be so much appreciated! It's not very long, and the results should be very interesting; I will publish a summary after 100 people have taken it. Thanks!

So, here you go: Click here to take survey!

The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) ranked Bahrain favorably in its 2003 Digital Access Index. The rankings took into account a variety of factors, including Internet penetration, IT investment, literacy rates, etc. UN members states were given a score ranging from 0.0 to 1.00, with 1.00 being a perfect score. Countries were then categorized into four different categories: high access, upper access, medium access and low access. Bahrain was rated in the upper access category with a score of .60, on par with the Bahamas, Hungary and Poland. Here are a few other scores just for comparison:

    # Sweden 0.85
    # Denmark 0.83
    # Korea, (South) 0.82
    # Slovenia 0.72
    # Israel 0.70
    # Kuwait 0.51
    # Mauritius 0.50
    # Russia 0.50
    # Jordan 0.45
    # Saudi Arabia 0.44
    # Honduras 0.29
    # Syrian Arab Republic 0.28
    # Tanzania 0.15
    # Haiti 0.15
    # Burkina Faso 0.08
    # Niger 0.04
