Spam Party

Ok, I’m crumbling with spam and my server is on its knees. Sorry if this is causing to slow the loading of the blog. For the last 4 days or so, the spam increased from average of one thousand per day to six thousand and the number is still increasing.
I’m trying my best to kill these idiots with new different anti-spam tools, so please forgive me if you face some trouble in commenting… but keep coming :-)

Try spamassasin if you have your own SMTP, what I would do is have spamassasin handle port 25, then forward these to your mail server on an unknown port, and establish IPSEC between the two when communicating on that port. And accept traffic on that port only from your mail/spam assasin server (think of it as a mail firewall, it’s a firewall, but a little bit more intelligent)
Works like a charm and kills 99.9995% of all spam I’m getting, which still leaves something like 50 or 60 pass through

    Hope this helps

If you are running apache install mod_security it will really help to stop spammers.

I noticed that my yahoo mail bulk folder has been bulging at the seams this week. If I don’t check email for half a day, 150 messages show up in bulk. I never look at any of them, either, just hit the “empty folder” button.

    What morons.

Good luck and hope your various protective measures work out…
