Rightists put forth plan to resettle Northern Gaza. They have a whole list of willing volunteers readdy to put their lives in the forefront ):

Wasn’t this REALLY the plan all along anyway?
Human rights council of the UN in their first ever emergency meeting demanded an end to Israeli actions in Gaza
http://news.monstersandcritics.com/middleeast/article_1178476.php/Human_Rights_Council_demands_end_to_Israeli_action_in_Gaza
Twenty-nine of the 47 members voted for the resolution, with five abstentions, and 13 opposed. Among the no votes were the European Union. This is the very same Council that the US was seeking to undercut in its’ establishment and would NOT support.
Mennonite council in Canada sent a letter to the prime minister asking him to speak out against the incursion into Gazahttp://www.mcc.org/news/news/2006/2006-07-05_lettertoPM.html
A full page add in today’s London times was taken out by prominate Jews in England (cost $10000) decrying Israel’s actions
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/5154838.stm
There are DOZENS more such articles.
My point, this IS happening, this IS a crime, and there are MANY speaking out against it. Israel, I think you REALLY blew it this time (as if you haven’t been ‘blowing it’ for years) I do NOT support violence by anyone, but I DO support resistance. ESPECIALLY to the HORRENDOUS occupation of Palestine. Israel, the whole world is watching your butchering this time and there are a WHOLE LOT of people and nations condemning your actions. STOP this insane collective punishment NOW!!!!
My prayers deeply sent to the people of Palestine wherever they are in this world.
In solidarity. God keep you safe from further harm I pray.

How can I explain my horror about what is happening to the Palestinians.
My wife just walked in to my office and asked me what I was watching.
I tried to explain to her what was happening. I broke into tears because of what the Palestinians are going through.
Seeing all those children dying or dead, all those bombings (including the lost ones), that target the general public.
How a Democratic country (the US) can support a terrorist country (Israel) to terrorise a populace so they can steal more land.
What we hear over here (in Canada) is just a mirror image of CNN.
As I keep saying about Bush. Lie, lie and lie again until the people believe it is the truth.
I have other comments about the Zionists and bush but they aren’t fit to print here!
NSA I live in Rodney, ON. in Canada.
I am the only male here named Kim. Are you happy now.
F*@k you. Bush, F#@k you.

Robin,
A small correction about the Special Session Resolution S-1/Res.1. by the UN Human Rights Council.
“Among the no votes were the European Union.”
This is not correct, as the European Union is not a country, but a close cooperation between 25 different countries who act together on certain matters. The EU does not have a seat on the UNHR Council! Furthermore, it is important to note that the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, and the UK (the 7 EU countries represented on the council) did not vote against the resolution because they are against the rights of Palestinians, but because they did not agree with some of the wording of the resolution.
You can find the website of the UNHRC here: http://www.ohchr.org/english/bodies/hrcouncil/
On the site you can also find the complete resolution (http://www.ohchr.org/english/bodies/hrcouncil/docs/specialsession/S-1Res.1.pdf).
I do not know for sure which parts of the wording prevented the 7 EU countries from voting in favor of the resolution, but, personally, I especially welcome the following bits from the text:
“…applicability of the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civil Persons in Time of War…including East Jerusalem…”
This is really nothing new, but it affirms (one more time) that Palestine has a legal claim to East Jerusalem and that Olmert has no legal foundation to deny this.
“…urgent fact-finding mission headed by the Special Rapporteur…”
This will not solve the crisis, but if there are official rapporteurs on the ground in Palestine there is a good chance that it will force some restraint on Israeli actions (one can always hope).
“Calls for a negotiated solution to the current crisis.”
A ‘diplomatic fuck you’ to Mr. Olmert if he thinks that he can draw the borders between Israel and Palestine arbitrarily without international rejection.
If you are interested in news about the common EU policies (esp. foreign affairs) then you can visit the site of the European Commission (http://ec.europa.eu/comm/external_relations/index.htm). It is still a bit behind with updates to latest developments (only a couple of days, which is better than the couple of weeks before they changed the website about a month ago), but it gives a very good overview of what is official EU policy compared to what is rumored to be EU policy!
One of the items you may find interesting is a press release about Benita Ferrero-Waldner’s visit to Lebanon (http://europa.eu.int/rapid/pressReleasesAction.do?reference=IP/06/944&format=HTML&aged=0&language=EN&guiLanguage=en) and the speech she gave to the European Parliament on July 5 regarding the deteriorating situation in Palestine (http://europa.eu.int/rapid/pressReleasesAction.do?reference=SPEECH/06/434&format=HTML&aged=0&language=EN&guiLanguage=en).
Here is the most important bit (another ‘diplomatic fuck you’ to Olmert) from her speech:
“We remain committed to a negotiated two-state solution, and will not recognise any change to the pre-1967 borders other than those agreed to by both sides.”
Ms. Ferrero-Waldner is the closest to what could be called a ‘EU Minister of Foreign Affairs’ though, technically, it is not correct.
The current situation sucks, but it is possible to find a ‘diplomatic fuck you’ sent to Olmert and Israel in different forms from different directions - they are not yet loud enough, but at least they are there!
As I see it, the major problem is the big ass of the Bush. Due to the current state of diplomatic affairs my politicians can only say “Fuck you, Olmert” while their mouths are firmly pressed against the ass of the Bush. No wonder their voices are muffled!!!!!!!!

“ONE” actually makes a difference, thank god and offcourse it’s a great news.
July 7th, 2006 at 4:00 pm
Thomas,
remember? (those better come out as sad faces which imply complete sarcasm)
I actually took the words directly from the article but yes, your correction IS correct. I was watching PBS prior to the current Israeli attack in Gaza concerning the stranglehold that Israel had on the population there post Hamas election. It was interesting (especially concerning it was PRIOR to this current situation) because it was telling how the US is putting GREAT pressure on various countries of the EU to back off on their continued backing of the Palestinian cause. I forgot who the “European” was being interviewed was but he was saying that the US is threatening certain “bargaining chips” that the US was using to strongarm Europe, taxes on European imports to the US being one of the main threats. If you recall, this new UN Human Rights council was only established a few months ago and the US did just about everything they could to undercut it. Their main reason being that they could not control it with veto power since each member country has equal voting power. In the end, the US has abstained from joining the council for “one year” while we sit back and see just how “balanced” this new human rights council is. Or in other words, just how it votes according to what the US (Israel) THINKS it should vote. So, my guess is that although there may be some trepidition on various EU countries supporting the Palestinians right now (especially inlieu of the kidnapping, but overwhelmingly SHOULD vote for the resolution considering the dire circumstances now) I think it was REALLY US pressure put on them to vote against the resolution. We are after all, the “greatest nation on Earth”
If anyone reading this thinks that the current attack in Gaza is justified due to the kidnapping and qassam rockets, please read this article http://www.boston.com/news/globe/editorial_opinion/editorials/articles/2006/07/07/the_agony_of_gaza/
Quote: “So Israel has the right to try to deter suicide bombings and the launching of missiles at Israeli towns. And in the current case of the Israeli soldier abducted by Palestinian militant factions, Israel’s government is justified in seeking to obtain his release without making concessions that create incentives for the seizure of more hostages in the future.
But there can be no justification for Israel’s collective punishment of at least half of the civilian population in Gaza.”
This article is from the Boston Globe, a paper KNOWN for it’s support of Israel. So you see, EVEN entities who in the past have unconditionally supported Israel are speaking out against this current situation. I am waiting for the news blackout any day to where we are told “everything’s peachy keen in Gaza”
I pray to God this time justice is forthcoming for the people of Palestine. The world is watching you Israel and your butchering. The world is WATCHING and CONDEMNING YOU!!!
I will continue my letters to my own government officials as are THOUSANDS of others to stop our support of your apartheid nation.
In Solidarity with the people of Palestine, wherever you may be.
July 7th, 2006 at 5:58 pm
Here is the last paragraph of the above article I referenced from the Boston Globe. NOTE: This article was written July 7th, today, and is ONLY referring to knocking out the power plant and it’s affects on the citizens of Gaza. It does NOT mention the other attrocities. (in other words, the power plant is ENOUGH for the world to condemn Israel according to the Boston Globe)
“It is ethically indefensible to impose such conditions on the confined population of Gaza. Hundreds of thousands of civilians should not be made hostage to obtain the release of one Israeli soldier. If Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert believes this is the right way to turn the Palestinian public against Hamas and the other factions firing rockets into Israel, he is making a political as well as a moral blunder.”
Please God, do not allow another higher number to supplant the one given above. How many more are going to die from the affects of the heat in homes not even able to even run a fan? How many more women are going to miscarry babies due to the sonic booms? (This article tells that Palsestinian AND ISRAELI human rights groups are suing to stop the use of this tactic
http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/E3369408-3B0B-4112-8B4A-E7634217EEBB.htm)
How many are going to die in the hospitals because they are not receiving their medicines OR the generators are out? How many are going to die from drinking inpotable water because the water pumps which operate on electriciy are not able to function? How many suicides will there be? How many people will die due to other causes other than the official number given above and rising? So the count of “40″ is CERTAINLY higher. How can ANY rational person justify this over the kidnapping of one soldier, the murder of one settler (who really isn’t even mentioned to much) and the shooting of rockets into Israel which have killed NO ONE for a LONG TIME (yes I realize they are a MENACE, but for god’s sake, there is NO equity in this matter). I am fully and completely dumbfounded if ANYONE thinks this is justified.
God be with the people of Palestine
July 7th, 2006 at 8:26 pm
Once upon a time, a country existed that rocketed its neighbors indiscrimately, kidnapped noncombatants for later execution, and whose population sought to conquer as much territory as possible and reduce the rest of the world to slavery.
That country was Nazi Germany. And when avenging Allied tanks encountered resisting German villages, they reduced the buildings to mere memorials, and the villagers to penury.
No one seems to consider these actions a crime today. What would be wrong if Israel levelled Gaza and drove its inhabitants away tomorrow?

Once upon a time there existed a country whose new citizenship depended upon religion http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_Return and no others need apply unless they have lived there since before 1948, that held thousands of it’s neighbors who had been expunged from their lands hostage in prisons experiencing inhumane existances http://www.palestine-pmc.com/details.asp?cat=2&id=1474, and sought to conquer and keep land against international law
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UN_Security_Council_Resolution_242 and who killed thousands more of it’s neighbors than they lost to the violence http://www.ifamericansknew.org/ who used arms far out weighing it’s enemies arms killing them in great numbers, who had been a victim once of one of the most horrific genocides in the history of the world, and who then believed it was their God-given right to this land and all others must be “leveled”
http://www.simpletoremember.com/vitals/G-dAtSinai.htm
But not all of it’s people believed this way and wanted to get along with their neighbors

O haitham,
We should have a reverse count. Your count is wrong. For every israeli terrorist shot dead we should encourage to kill them. Why should we suffer. In the U.K. the police openly shoot muslims and they are not questionnable. How many british, israeli and americans are there in other parts of the world. For every head british, israeli and american terrorist head on your doorstep. It is gives great pleasure for us, for the innocents killed. We have the right to kill them, do upon them what they do on to you.
Otherwise sit in the homes like eunuchs. Your mothers and wifes shall go and fight the battle
July 8th, 2006 at 7:22 pm
Samina,
Let it be said up front that I am reluctant to adress you. I am an American, VERY amicably divorced from an Arab Muslim and also have a 28 year old daughter from that relationship. It has been challenging, to say the least, raising her biculturally. But we HAVE succeeded and you need to know that there are many more like her out there. There are also MANY Americans, such as myself, who are in solidarity with the Palestinian cause. I am NOT in agreement with “terrorism” no matter WHO is committing it, be it Arabs, Zionists, or Americans who indicriminately murder eachother without a second thought. Killing ANY person simply because of their birth is simply WRONG!!!!! I have spent the last 31 years since I first met my ex-husband trying to talk to Americans about Muslims and the beauty of their faith. Then people like you come along who pose an extreme challenge. I don’t know whether to reach out across the virtual space dividing us or run for the hills because you are intent on delivering “American terrorist heads to Haitham’s doorstep” You are suggesting tourists are fair play? Well dear, you DO scare me because it is people such as yourself that undo everything I have been trying to do, and others like me, for a LONG time. While I and others are reaching out as individuals across the divide in peace and mutual justice, you and others like you are trying to take that away. I have never had a Muslim friend, and I have MANY as well as family, who would threaten me or American tourists. If you were here in my country and we met, without me knowing your intent, I would invite you into my home. Then what? Speaking hate and murder is NOT part of the Islam that I have come to know, love and respect. Please reconsider, if you are not part of the solution, then you ARE part of the problem.
Masalama
July 8th, 2006 at 7:45 pm
Robin,
I am ignoring people like Samina, because she is so entrenched in her own little world of hatred that nothing a non-Muslim can say will make any difference (imagine a Palestinian asking Olmert or another Zionazi for respect as a person!) - it just doesn’t work!
What makes me the most sad is that all the otherwise intelligent Muslims on this board who are just sitting with their moutns shut. They are the ones who must deal with these kind of hate-filled Muslims, while we are the ones who are best suited for dealing with hate-filled non-Muslims. Speak up, people, SILENCE IS CONSENT!!!!!!!
Anyway, I just wanted to add http://www.jfjfp.org (Jews for Justice for Palestinians) to your list - another Jewish organization opposed to Israel’s war crimes.
July 8th, 2006 at 10:33 pm
Thomas, I misread Samina’s post slightly,(still no glasses, lazy me)
She did NOT say “tourist”, but rather “terrorist”. But she did say “How many british, israeli and americans are there in other parts of the world. For every head british, israeli and american terrorist head on your doorstep.” I “could” be wrong, but I DEFINITELY believe her intent was to threaten British, Israelis and Americans living abroad then deliver their heads to Haitham. I REALLY don’t think, no I KNOW he would not appreciate going out for the paper in the morning to get the paper and finding her gift instead. She says she has this “right” WRONG!!!! If she is speaking rules of war, the “head on your doorstep” is still disgusting. God, I hate this kind of talk!!
I adressed her for two reasons. One, I have a vested interest and two, I truly believe that if we all believe the world CAN be changed one heart at a time for the SAKE OF THE CHILDREN, then EVERYONE must speak up and not be afraid. Hatred makes me physically uncomfortable in the pit of my stomach, but I will continue to address it and not run away. (unless I or a loved one is in physical danger of course.) Peace.
July 8th, 2006 at 11:37 pm
More to say on this topic. Absolutely no Moslem that I have ever known personally, and there are MANY, would appreciate a “head on their doorstep” In war, in occupation, in times of general upheaval, emotions are raised. We are seeing HORRENDOUS bloodshead in Palestine. Every single life given by God to this planet is precious. As humans, we each have been given “free will” Even if you are a non-believer, we can still all agree that humans DO have free will. As I have scanned other blogs, different people are in different places in relationship to these events. One’s place and circumstance has the most impact on the the choices of the free-willed human. When a person is defending their very existance, the circumstances are altered as well as the behavior. My constant prayers (or positive thoughts, which ever term suits you best) are that God protect the innocent lives in Palestine. They are fighting against the occupation. NO ONE has the right to ask them not to defend themselves. Each life lost is mourned by each mother, no more, no less, than the other. We are ALL children of God (or Thomas, just humans which is fine with me) who need to respect our own lives as well as others. These times are pretty darn much the most desperate we have seen in a long time. All of you fighting the occupation, know that there are people the world over who wish for you to be safe. We may be far away, we may have no clue to how bad it is, but we ARE praying for you that the dream of a homeland will come true and that you may one day live in peace.

I believe Newton?s law of ?every action has an equal and opposite reaction?, should be followed in all respects. The maniacs who never bothered for other sensibilities should not be forgiven or asked to stop biting us, they should be damned rather. Its high time to wake up now. And that’s undoubtedly a great news.

I just viewed the pictures of the terrible inflictions to the Palestinians by Israel. I am an American who recently visited Palestine. I am sorry that people here are not allowed to see the truth of what is happening in Palestine. Although I am one person, I will never allow anyone to tell me that the Palestinians deserve what they get. I will tell what my eyes have seen to everyone I meet. Education and truth are very important. I sat through check points just to get to Jerusalem for 3 1/2 hours, no air condition, no food, no water, and no toiletries. I saw everyone suffer and I am ashamed that my country supports such terrible things that Israel is doing under the occupation of the Palestine and calls it “terrorism” when in fact it is a people just trying to survive.
It is also disgusting to me that the religious leaders here are brainwashing innocent Christian people into supporting Israel in the name of God when they are doing nothing but murdering the Palestinian families. I also want to mention that I was there when Israel gunned down a family having a picnic in Gaza including a baby and very little was mentioned in the US about that incident, as they claim it was an accident. It could not have been an accident, because the family was isolated from others on the beach enjoying family time. I saw more, perhaps too much but I think people should know the truth about how the Palestinians are tortured on a daily basis.

For the most part the civilized world doesn’t seem to mind so much when terrorist are being killed. If the terrorist like Iran, Syria, Leb. would stick to the charaters then maybe everyone else would, but no one really cares because the majority wants to see them and their host wiped out. I say more power to Israel. Letum have it, bombs away! and remember a coalition of nation said it will hunt down the terrorist AND their host where ever they are.
