PMWATCH - July 16, 2006 — We just placed a call to CNN’s International Desk a few minutes ago complaining about CNN’s lack of coverage of civilian suffering on the Lebanese side, and the person answering the call, a Jennifer, explained — amazingly enough — that the reason was because they did not have enough equipment and could not be everywhere at the same time! Israelis blame Syria and Iran of supplying missles and bombs to the terrorists.
Who supplies them with jets, missles, bombs, tanks and other weapons to kill civilians? The US.
This is not a was, this is genocide against the Palestinians!

This is a summary of what I heard CNN announce: “109 Lebanese dead, (wrong according to other accounts) 12 CIVILIAN Israeli’s dead” I could NOT believe my ears. Why are the 12 Israelis CIVILIANS whereas the 109 are “Lebanese”.
Did anyone catch that one? Is there a subtle suggestion that perhaps the Lebanese COULD be “militants”? It was subtle, but it was DEFINITELY a difference in wording. Yesterday when the rocket hit the apartment in Haifa killing two, it made a definite distinction that it was a grandmother and grandchild, CIVILIANS. I deplore their death and wish for no more death on either side but I REALLY wish the news did not give out these subliminal suggestions which definitely mold public oppinion. Or perhaps the fact that there ARE so many dead in Lebanon it is making it hard to report. HAH!!! I doubt that VERY much.

Do you guys remember the gruff Ted Koppel got for airing the pictures of each soldier who had died in Iraq? Remember, we don’t see the coffins here in the US and it is NOT supposed to get personal. (needless to say, NO pictures of dead Iraqis ever were aired, it would take ALL DAY or perhaps more) Perhaps, just maybe, a campaign could be brought to air the individual pictures of each person killed in this conflict. Maybe that is what we should be asking for.

Ah, poor Haitham. CNN won’t show dead babies on live tv. Jeez it must suck now that Hez is getting their asses kicked, Gaza is a mess and the world…well the world if finally letting it happen. Oh, and what’s that, even some Arab states are in agreement. Damn that must sting.

I suppose it must be heartwrenching- that after decades, “ITBACH AL YAHUDI!” will no longer be tolerated as acceptable political or religious expression.
I guess the Israelis got tired of hearing it.

Regarding post #10,
I personally do not wish to see the dead bodies of anyone. What I am suggesting is the airing of pictures of the victims of this crisis being aired as they were in life, both sides of the conflict. You’ll just have to give a WHOLE lot more airtime to the Palestinians and Lebanese. These were living human beings, many of them children, with no more future. No more chance to become what they could have been. Mothers, fathers, old people, HUMANS who are now gone. I find post #10 offensive and indicative of the hatred being spewed at people’s expense who are now DEAD. Could someone please realize in Israel what this outrageous aggression is creating. If #10 shows no remorse, Israel shows no remorse, no inclination to reverse their actions, then I suggest they not be surprised when their own dead are not mourned by all.

Clarification, I do not wish to see the dead bodies of anyone because I do not wish them to be dead. For all who have died I mourn. For those whose faces or stories we have not seen or heard descriptions or names of in Palestine and Lebanon, I give to them this poem:

CNN is at it again: choosing its words and images carefully to remain safely well within the officially accepted and sanctioned storyline: Israel is reacting to provocation — perhaps a bit heavy-handedly — but reacting all the same. Haitham, What can money do. We need peoples involvement and consent. We want their written consent and willingness to mobilise their governments against carrying these attrocities on mankind.

The pics with the israeli girls writing on shells are the first ones in the “foto” section of the today’s front page of http://www.corriere.it (major newspaper in italy). Please note that the rest of the gallery depicts only foreigners leaving beirut, israeli civilians in bunkers, haifa building hit and victims. lebanon people does not exist. same for lebanon victims.
So I double-checked this morning the radionews at RAI (main italian public broadcasting). I’m ashamed, as italian: no mention at lebanon victims at all, just an interview of an israeli civilian complaining about qassams (?) and “reporting” massive attacks in middle east, without ANY mention on who is the attacker.

I used to think CNN is the only channel where we can get some fair and balanced news but after watching the coverage for this crisis i m disappionted. I used to think highly of Anderson Cooper but his reporting has really stunned me. CNN,FOX and MSNBC probably interviewed all Israeli officals, from Barak to Shimon to Natanyahu.I have yet to see a Lebanese offical beside the Lebanese UN ambassdor. I have yet to see reports from Beruit or from areas were heavily bombed. The main anchors are all reporting from Israel and thats should tell you that we will never hear from both sides

Let me postulate a more likely reason here. The folks over at CNN/Fox News etc. would prefer to keep their reporters heads attached to their shoulders. Face it folks. Some of your pretty boys over there have a nasty penchant for head hacking us infidels with rusty kitchen knives while screaming Allah Akbar at the top of their lungs.

Not sure what you mean here PROUD TO BE LEBANESE. The news about it is wall to wall 24/7 here it the states. There are plenty of shots of the devastation inside Lebanon. Hell, were getting live feeds while its happening. Sometimes one rporter is standing next to the Ilraeli howitzer when it fires and on the other side of the screen another reporter shows the shell landing in Labanon. From a good long distance of course. As for websites being suspended, I for one haven’t notices anyone dropping off line here. After all, I am posting on Sabbah’s blog without any trouble. I am actually quite sympathetic to the Lebanese people but they do bare some responsibility for letting Hesballah place 12 thousand rockets aimed at Israel on their soil. I don’t believe for a nanosecond that you didn’t know about them.

You mean as opposed to the pictures I’ve seen of Palestinian parents parading their small children around with mach suicide belts strapped around their waists. CNN never showed that one either. Hmmmm…

Because almost certainely many of those 109 were Hezbollah fighters.

Erm perhaps you could share with us the last time someone was beheaded in Lebanon Curt before you start making racist generalisations? perhaps you could share with us the pictures of Lebanese mothers putting suicide belts on their children? Ooops! sorry, I forgot that all Arabs are the same where you come from. Exactly how many times have you seen a Palestinian child wearing a suicide belt (think about it before you lie, as I know ALOT more about the media than you do). This was an Israeli propaganda trick, and when challenged about it an the Israeli military spokeswoman became strangely evasive about it. She refused to furnish any more details, when pressed, she admitted the suicide belt was probably not real (it was obviously not real), and that soldiers found the picture while searching the home of a Hamas militant. So that makes all Arabs suicide bombers does it? I am sorry Curt, but your gullibilty is lamentable, and with all due respect, anyone who was familiar with the laws of decent behaviour would not make such horrible racist slurs.
