Just how ignorant can the media be?

Jon Stewart shows us how ignorant U.S. news stations (CNN in particular) are to world events!

I found this film to be a perfect description of why & how the media can be so ignorant. I know British media is not as bad as the american lies but it still poses the real questions. John Snow is the best reporter in Britain (he loathes Israeli propaganda).

You’re right Jules. I watch news programmes from all over the world, and UK
Channel 4 news (with Jon Snow and the rest) is definitely the best of them.

The best “western” journalist in this current conflict is undoubtedly the great Robert Fisk, a UK journalist who lives permanently in Beirut. I am still recovering from one of the last of his horrific, moving and beautifully written dispatches in which he narrowly escaped death. Below is an excerpt …

“An old man approached us carrying a silver tray of glasses and a pot of scalding tea. Generous to the end, under constant air attack, these fearful Lebanese were offering us their traditional hospitality even now, as the jets wheeled in the sky above us. They asked us in the house they refused to leave and I realised then that these kind Lebanese people - unarmed, unconnected to Hizb’Allah - were the real resistance here. The men and women who will ultimately save Lebanon.”

This is what real journalism, “western” or otherwise should be about, and it is a considerable improvement on “how will this hurt us at the pumps”!
