Last year, President Bush appointed Bolton as our U.N. Ambassador using a constitutional loophole despite public outcry and Senate disapproval. Bolton’s track record as Ambassador is dismal. Don’t let this happen a second time!

Now that John Bolton’s appointment as United Nations Ambassador is coming to an end, the Senate is about to consider his re-nomination. Please sign the petition to block Bolton’s re-nomination!

Since arriving at the U.N., Bolton has:

• alienated our global allies;
• undermined U.S. foreign policy;
• missed countless opportunities to make the U.N. stronger and more effective;
• consistently clashed with the Secretary of State, which undermined the State Department’s work; and
• used heavy-handed tactics that have created anger toward the U.S.

And most recently, Bolton essentially held the U.N. hostage by threatening not to pay the United States U.N. dues, which would have effectively shut down the U.N. Even Bolton’s staunchest critics have been shocked by his abysmal tenure.

Bolton is the man who once said, “There is no such thing as the United Nations. There is an international community that occasionally can be led by the only real power left in the world and that is the United States, when it suits our interest and we can get others to go along.” This is the person the Bush administration felt best represents the United States at the world’s most important international forum?

Thanks to petition signers like you, last year the Senate voted against appointing Bolton as our U.N. Ambassador. President Bush acted alone however, and used a constitutional loophole called a “recess appointment”� to declare Bolton as Ambassador.

It is clear that John Bolton is not a team player when it comes to U.S. foreign policy goals, but that he is representing his own radical agenda. Sign the petition to block Bolton’s re-nomination before the Senate makes this tragic, far-reaching mistake!

It is time to tell the world that America needs the U.N. and the U.N. needs America. By stopping this re-nomination, we’ll make way for a new Ambassador that will advance U.S. foreign policy, improve the U.N., and respect America’s time-honored tradition of working with others to solve global problems.

Together, we’ll send a clear message that we can do better than John Bolton. Thank you for taking action on this urgent petition.
