It is worth reflecting on where Israel is today compared to only one month ago (highlight and coloring are my emphasis).
"I want to make it clear: This morning's events were not a terrorist attack but the action of a sovereign state that attacked Israel for no reason and without provocation. The Lebanese government, of which Hezbollah is a member, is trying to undermine regional stability. Lebanon is responsible and Lebanon will bear the consequences of its actions." -Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, July 12, 2006
Not holding my breath for UNSC 1701 to be respected,

Sabbah,
What has Hizbullah’s “victory” achieved? A devastated Lebanon whose promising but fragile democracy is in tatters, leaving an essentially theocratic militia the strongest power around. Plus there is an Israeli public which will have concluded that withdrawal from occupied territories=emboldened enemies who will launch military strikes. The Israelis conclusion? It’s too risky to withdraw. We can probably say good bye to the hope of the West Bank becoming the center of a Palestinian state.
*This* is what you would celebrate. Good God man, open your eyes!
