Israeli soldiers attacking Palestinians with Nasrallah screen savers on their mobile phones

Laugh… cry… or both!

As the Lebanese resistance movement leader ’s popularity has grown, so has bizarre Israeli behavior. It is difficult to find another adjective to represent what is happening. Israeli soldiers are attacking Palestinian young people with Nasarallah’s photo as their mobile phone screen saver.

And this is not because the Israeli administration believes these to be people working with Hezbollah or even to be members of the armed Palestinian resistance. It is that there is pride and respect for someone who stood up to the that must be destroyed, according to Mahmoud Ibrahim. He is among the young men recently attacked for his cell phone photo.

On Saturday morning Israeli soldiers attacked a group of young men and broke their mobile phones at the southern entrance of Jenin for having pictures of Hassan Nasrallah on them.

The young man, Mahmoud Ibrahim, was among them, and reported to PNN that the soldiers imposed a barricade along the main road between Jenin and Nablus in the northern West Bank. The concern was not to check identification, but rather to check cell phones. Anyone with a Nasrallah photo was detained, and that meant a lot of cars lined up in the detention area.

Ibrahim added, “The request was strange, but then I realized what the occupation soldiers’ goal was. They said the screen saver incited riots and after beating people for an hour, they destroyed the cell and threatened everyone with arrest.”

“This is funny, sad, and strange, being treated like children and seeing the height of the warped nature of Israeli paranoia,” one West Bank journalist from Bethlehem said when asked for comment Saturday. He is a Palestinian man working for an international news agency and continued with the simple statement, “Screen savers do not incite riots, but restored pride does sometimes incite revolution against oppression.”

Another young man, Abdullah Riyad, said, “Israeli soldiers detained several young men at the same barrier and examined their cell phones. There were ten youths with his photo. Five soldiers were kicking and beating them, screaming, ‘You support Nasrallah and that means you are against .’ What do they think? Who is with the occupation?”

Riyad added, “The rest of the detained people faced the same fate, with the soldiers using abusive words, their aggressive energy at a high level, and then besides the verbal abuse and the beatings, the punishment is not being allowed to travel and having their cellular phones destroyed.”

The young man concluded by telling PNN, “Israeli soldiers are also searching cars for cassettes as many sad songs for Beirut and Lebanon were released and other older songs became popular again. Several songs were written for Nasrallah also and then the regular nationalist music and the Allah victory song tapes too. Anyone found in procession of those now gets brutalized.”

Seems like Zionists are going crazy and desperate. The last thing they can handle is united people! You can see from this how fearless Palestinians are, and this is the great threat to Zionists. Free, free Palestine!!!

I found this interesting article about a song, “The Hawk of Lebanon” http://www.theworld.org/globalhits/2006/08/17.shtml
which praises the efforts of Nasrallah. It states, “August 17, 2006

    Translation of Lyrics:
I hail thee, hawk of Lebanon
    I welcome thee, Hassan Nasrallah
    Here are your men, Hezbollah
Victory, victory with the help of God.
    Nasrallah, this brave person
He responded to the calls to take vengeance
The Arab blood became hotter and hotter
The boldness and the courage that characterizes this battle is an Islamic courage
You can launch as many rockets as you want
But our people will never surrender
    History will write your story
And God will always bless you
Your rockets in Israel all generations will talk about
And your Katyushas have scared the Zionists
    Nasrallah, raise your voice
Our people are used to welcoming death
We do not want money or treasures or wealth
All we want is to live a free life
    Blood only brings blood
And I hope we can destroy your life and make you worry
Zionism and Zionists are the biggest poison in Arab land

Hezbollah this week is pledging to help rebuild destroyed areas of Beirut and southern Lebanon. The act is serving to bolster an already wildly popular organization. The group and its leader Hassan Nasrallah are seen as heroes by many in Lebanon and the Arab world for standing up to the Israeli army, considered the most powerful in the region. In the West Bank and Gaza, new songs praising Nasrallah and Hezbollah are selling like mad, for about two dollars. The World’s Aaron Schachter takes a look at one of the songs, “The Hawk of Lebanon.”

On the day before a Palestinian Muslim wedding, men and women gather separately for parties.

This party for the bridegroom is being held at a school in the small town of Kufr Ain. The group Firkat il-Shamal, or Band of the North, drove down from Jenin for the occasion. The El Haija brothers who make up the group were already among the most popular wedding singers in the West Bank, but their newest song has brought them wide acclaim.

Ala Abu El Haija sings I hail thee Nasrallah, I hail thee hawk of Lebanon; victory, victory with the help of God.

    Ala Abu El Haija

El Haija says Palestinians love the song because they feel the Israeli war against the people in Lebanon was just like what’s happening to people here. He says the song talks about them just as much as it talks about the people in Lebanon. El Haija says he wrote the song after watching news reports of the Israeli missile strike in Qana, Lebanon, which killed several dozen people, including many children.

El Haija’s brother, Nuredin, says Nasrallah has become more than the leader of a single group in Lebanon.

Nuredin says Nasrallah is the only one defending the Arab cause now. He says the presence of Nasrallah makes Arabs and Palestinians nostalgic for a strong leader because he’s the only one who’s managed to take on the oppressor, Israel. And those sentiments are reflected in the song…

    El Haija brothers

El Haija sings “Nasrallah responded to the calls to take vengeance as the Arab blood became hotter and hotter. The boldness and the courage that characterizes Nasrallah’s battle, says the song, is an Islamic courage. Our people are used to welcoming death.” The song’s lyrics are not heavily Islamic, but it’s clear the El Haija brothers are advocating a society based on religious values. Still the catchy music and overall Arab nationalist tone are a hit with the mostly-secular Palestinian public.

“All the Palestinian people hear it.”

    “How? It is found everywhere.”

Abu Fahdi is one of the guests at the wedding.

“Everywhere. In Ramallah, in Nablus, in Hebron. In every house it is found, in every house. You know what Nasrallah represent now? He represents a very big thing. He’s the first person to say to all the world “look at Israel, how it is killing the children, the women, the people everywhere.”

Just wait till it is offered as a “ringtone”, what will the IOF do then? :) Reader of the above take note, it says clearly that the “mostly secular Palestinian people” are identifying with Nasrallah.(hence the screen savers) Yes indeed, this war on Lebanon certainly did NOT smash the resistance but only served to coalesce it. As for smashing cell phones and beating their owners, that too is serving Israel well (NOT!!) These actions are INDEED the actions of a desperate people as Sanja states

Look at what happened over here after 9/11.
    Everyone (almost) gathered around Bush.
The only difference is that Bush screwed up.
I don’t think that Hezbollah will. They are smarter than Bush (who isn’t).
To go after people because they support a leader or his message will only make his support stronger because people see this action as a weakness.
Canadians are now trying to take Hezbollah off the list as a terrorist organization because of their political wing that is doing more for the people than fighting.
I am still waiting for responses from news groups that at first reported that Hezbollah captured the Israeli soldiers in Lebanon.
Even several Israeli reports sid so!
Too many reports first said that they were in Lebanon. Then suddenly they all said Israel.
Politics and lies seem to be the way now a days.
