Hi One Palestine,
I fully understand what you are saying, believe me, I do. But here's the rub, SOMEONE is going to be the president of the US and as voters we have to very much understand the political process. Notice I said "more even-handed" It's been so absolutely one-sided here in the US that Obama just "might" be a really good step in the right direction. It's always the lesser of two evils when it comes to this particular issue but take GWB for instance. Both times he lost yet won. Between election fraud and not enough people caring to get out and vote we got the jerk we have. And as I said above, if Obama is Israel's least favorite of the potential candidates that speaks mountains within itself. And yes I agree 100% he voted wrong on the bill. It's called politics, a dirty, ugly world, and "maybe" it was a positioning vote for a future run. Who knows, maybe. It's political suicide to go up against AIPAC especially this early in the game. But someone IS going to be president and it's important if there's the opportunity to put your money (vote) where your mouth is and vote strategically. Perhaps it's wishfull thinking, but if it were say McCain vs. Obama, the choice is obvious. You are right, the US is part and parcel of the occupation, and that is why as Americans the only voice we have (besides lobbying and such) is our vote. If it were McCain Vs. Obama and McCain won I'd be kicking myself in the fanny if I didn't vote. Yes, I'm one of those who believes every vote counts. Why? because all the votes cast for the candidate I do not want surely count, so why shouldn't mine. Wishing very much for a change in US policy. In solidarity.

Besides that, the fact that Obama voted with the 99 percent of senators who decided to starve the Palestinians for carrying out a democratic election makes him a fascist, too.

Yes, America. As Lou Reed said, "Give me your tired, your hungry, your poor, I'll piss on them. That's what the statue of bigotry says."

Why should anyone be even-handed with Israel? When was the last time Israel dealt even-handedly with anyone else? Can anything be more clearly demarkated as Israel's complete disregard for human lives that are not their own?

No U.S. candidate will ever have the courage to call a spade a spade when it comes to Israel. You need only review the fact that Congress approved more than 2 billion dollars in aid to Israel's military for 2007 to know where they stand. And if that's not proof enough of the utter depravity of Congress, look at the latest list of who is being funded by AIPAC (AIPAC doesn't give to anyone driving a line against Israel's policies). Sure, it's their money, but noone has to accept it:
http://www.wrmea.com/archives/May-June_2006/0605031.html

So that makes Congress part and parcel of Israel's brutal occupation of the Palestinians, as well as their recent murder of 1000 Lebanese civilians, and the displacement of 900,000 more.

You want to place your faith that Obama will be elected? And if he were, do you think AIPAC and Israel would allow him to be anything less than glowingly supportive of their actions? Do you even think that his cabinet and advisors would allow it?

OK, that does it for me. I swore I would not vote in the next presidential election for either major candidate ( the only hope for winning) unless that candidate was going to be more even handed concerning Israel. The fact that Obama is at the end of the list preferred by "Israeli experts" tells me that he is the MOST likely to be even-handed and the man they fear most. Thanks "Israeli experts" for telling me, a Democrat, who I should be supporting to run by putting him at the end of your list :)

For more on Barak Obama:

June 14,2006 (flag day) Take Back America speech. http://home.ourfuture.org/videos/take-back-america-2006/senator-barack-obama.html
2004 Keynote Address at the Democratic Convention http://www.pbs.org/newshour/vote2004/demconvention/speeches/obama.html

Obama is NOT perfect by any means on his stance on Israel. He voted yes, along with the other 99 Senators on what was called by Congress the "Anti-Palestinian Terror Act" but what should have been called the "Cut-off the funds to Palestine Act" which was a result of the Hamas victory. This act has resulted in a virtual blockade on all US funds to Palestine resulting in misery for all of the citizens living under the occupation. I was advised by a Palestinian friend, "hopefully America will choose a new president who is friendlier to our cause". I also checked out his AIPAC monies received and can find no evidence of AIPAC contributions.

As Americans it is absolutely imperative to know our candidates views on the issues. PLEASE Americans, choose carefully in your next choice in the primaries and the presidential elections. God only knows we CANNOT put up with what we have had for the last six years and we must wisely choose a candidate who will move forward fairly in the Palestinian/Israeli conflict. This is NOT a campaign plug, only a plea to vote with an educated conscious in matters.
