They look like translated ads from cosmopolitan magazine … WOW

And this one is distributed for free … I can see now where our community is heading and it is not a nice destination :(

Haitham I love the way you jump from hardcore politics to hardcore porn!

I can't believe what I see about pornography ads appearing in Arabic in magazines to be distributed and marketed in Arabic speaking countries. This is the destructive aspects of Western civilization that merchants of decadence as well as merchants of death are eager to export to the Arab-Muslim world in the name of progress, democracy and civilization brought to the region of tops of tanks and the other weapons of mass destruction! And you wonder why and how groups like Taliban, Huzbullah and Hamas come into existence. The law of nature says, "For each action there is a reaction similar to it in force, and diametrically opposed to it in direction."

Yes but we all have a free choice and this quote is referring to science (physics specifically) and not to the behaviour of individuals, groups or countries etc. Obviously there is a market for it otherwise people wouldnt bother advertising the stuff. You can force the horse to the water and s/he can even pretend to drink but you cannot force him/her to actually drink the water - well you could beat the shit out of the horse or threaten him/her with hellfire and damnation in the hope that s/he will capitulate but what does that make you then? A horse killer / torturer - well you can decide.

    Remember this thread?
    http://sabbah.biz/mt/archives/2006/05/12/who-is-searching-for-sex/

Out of the top countries searching for "sex" on the internet, FOUR of the top eight countries were Muslim countries, In order from #1 down, 1. Pakistan 2. Egypt 3. Iran 6. Indonesia 7. Saudi Arabia
    8. Turkey. Now mind you, it was when you googled the word "sex" Maybe they were just doing academic research? Also, the number one language was Arabic googling "sex" I'm playing the devil's advocate here and agreeing with Sokari in her "horse" story. Question, where were these ads pulblished and are these services legal there? If not legal what will be the punishment? Prostitution is the "world's oldest profession" but it is almost always the woman here in the West who is prosecuted. Aren't they both participating in the same "crime" and shouldn't they both be punished equally? Also, the image of the Arab playboy run amok in the West is not just a cliche, it does happen. Personally I know that every single culture has "playboys" but it is a shame these are singled out as hypocrits to their culkture and faith giving all Arab men a bad rap which is NOT fair. As I say, those jerks exist in ALL cultures. But maybe, just maybe, they have come from such a sexually oppressive society that when they reach a society allowing these things it is like a "dehydrated horse" who really really wants to drink the water. BTW, I am a married female Westerner who also finds this sort advertisement, how shall I say it, advertising sex for pay which is dehumanizing to women.

    Robin,

This is a legal newspaper that is published on weekly bases all around the Middle East, specialized in all type of ads only but with different content in each country.

The above was part of a recent edition, which I guess is published at Lebanon. I'm not very sure as the text is small, but I have the original bigger version in my deleted mail box at work. I'll check it out tomorrow and confirm if I can make out the country, although I not very doubtful that it is Lebanon, since I know that Lebanon allows this type of publications (if not the only country in the Arab world).

May I remind you that Lebanon has the only Gay/Lesbian magazine in the Arab world, which I posted about long time ago here:

"Obviously there is a market for it … "

But societies often disapprove of behavior for which there is a "market." At least they did, before worship of the market crowded out all other standards of behavior. Fadel's comment seems unarguable–clearly this willingness to bow down to the gods of the "free market" is a distinguishing characteristic of the seecular West. And it will use its economic power to spread it, not for ideological reasons but out of pure profit-maximization.

I confirmed it now; it is from Lebanon version of this newspaper. Click picture for larger size (of the picture - dirty mind :-))

Thanks Haitham, I figured it was probably Lebanon but was kind of wondering if this sort of thing had spread elsewhere.
My vote for the best ad above, it would definitley be the very small "Peugeot" plug. I've heard they are very nice cars :)

trouvere: First let me say that I destest the use of porn which is degrading and abusive to women - However I do not agree with governments regulating the private lives of CONSENTING adults.

The West is not secular - that is a myth. The West follows the Christian calender, Christian religious days are national holidays. Christianity is the dominant religion and it is Christianity that forms the culture and responses to other religions such as Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Judism etc.

As to worshiping at the alter of a free-market it seems to me like the whole world has unfortuantely adopted that ideology more or less in its complete form and if the Taliban or some other repressive government that privileges one group over another, is the only option other than a free market, well you and Fadel wouldnt be here posting comments on Haitham's blog would you? You cannot have your cake and eat it!

Sex ads in arabic… I dont think it's the West responsible for its 'export' in muslim countries. Change viewpoint onto those people who snatched this western practice because they want to achieve nice business + quick, easy money.

Human beings are born with sex organs, sex hormones and a curious mind. Now imagine those muslim human beings with repressed sex organs, nagging sex hormones and a mind shielded from even a pair of legs on the streets.
