Written by Haitham Sabbah on 05. October 2006, 1422hrs // Part of Haitham Sabbah's adventure in History, Middle East, War // Other posts by Haitham Sabbah

Who has controlled the Middle East over the course of history? Pretty much everyone. Egyptians, Turks, Jews, Romans, Arabs, Greeks, Persians, Europeans…the list goes on.

Who will control the Middle East today and in the near future? Time will tell! [Hat tip: sokari]

    Robin Says:

The first recorded rulers of this land were the Egyptians who believed their “gods” legitimized their authority. “But perhaps the most important consequence of unification of the invention of a state system. In order to legitimate the authority of the king, the early dynastic kings and their administrators invented an institution which transcended the individual king or his administrators. The king became a divine king, a living god incarnate in the king, who brought about fertility and life to the people he ruled. Egypt, then, was a theocratic (”theo”=god, “cratic”=ruled by) state.” To question the authority of the king was blasphemy.”
Hmm, their “gods” legitimized their rule. Hmm, “questioning authority is blasphemy” Succeeding empires claimed the same. Hmm? Sound familiar in current times? (hint, Zionists just “maybe” hiding behind a mask of “religion”)

[...] Scot - I was thinking soemthing along the lines of this: http://sabbah.biz/mt/archives/2006/10/05/the-imperial-history-of-the-middle-east/ We could add pan and scroll as they did, but more importantly is the ability to change the timeline at will. I think that we should make it easily viewable for those running in 1024*768, so the maps would be sized accordingly. I also don’t have a problem with modern roads being in the picture (background) as they give the user a sense of where things are. Cyrus, thats very cool! Flash can do some really great effects.. but..I have never used flash..you have to buy the software to create something in Flash right? If you want to try something, feel free! I know its beyond my capabilities at the moment..I should have a bunch of maps uploaded soon.. speaking of "a bunch of maps uploaded soon", im still missing one important date..the abandonment or removal of the BR&P tracks between Stone Road and Charlotte..anyone? even a rough guess would help! thanks, Scot [...]
