We have been calling for a boycott and the answer to these calls in Arab countries who rushed to boycott Hamas were non existent.

It is a mystery for me that Arab countries were able to enforce an embargo against Hamas but never against israel. Yes, you read it right, Bush told Olmert, “Ya Habibi, No to International Peace Convention. Focus on War on Iran.” In return, Olmert confirmed that his stance against an international peace convention was backed by the American president. Funny, isn’t it? They are just tossing the ball between them because they will not benefit from something called PEACE! Israel keeps on rejecting every attempt the moment it does not get the own demands met - and that alone shows it is not serious.
This so-called "new initiative (which is actually the one of Beirut, 2002)" is doomed to fail already before it is even officially called for and I don't quite grasp why that is not considered. Israel will definitely NOT return to the 1967 boarders thus returning ALL occupied lands, NOT provide a just solution to the Palestinian refugee problem which would be either to officially grant the ROR - OR at least to de-jure do that thus allowing to who wishes and grant a realistic compensation for the ones who do not - NOR will it grant the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip with East Jerusalem as capital! About the Golan, which would belong to the deal, I don't even want to start ...
All that was discussed over and over already when the UN-resolutions 242 (1967) and 338 (1973) were established ... and didn't lead anywhere! All in all ... I am everything else but optimistic!
As to the Arab League and the Arabs in general ... I have the feeling the American VETO was kind of a most necessary wake-up-call in form of a major slap in the face! It is just sad the situation had to deteriorate to this point for them to wake up! I can only hope the millions they are going to send will take care of the worst suffering and give the people at least enough to eat! It is an utter disgrace to EVERYONE who was, from the beginning on, ABLE to help - but refrained to do so due to external pressures!! They are AS GUILTY as the ones who executed these atrocities!! This rude wake-up-call was urgently necessary ... I just HOPE they won't fall back asleep again!

The question “Who wants peace here” is certainly legitimate as it does not seem that Israel is one of the partners and as it ALWAYS takes TWO to tango, that’s what would be required!
