Olmert admits blueprint for 2006 war preceded conflict

Israel’s Prime Minister said on Thursday that the summer 2006 war with Lebanon had been pre-planned, backing up similar claims made by Hizbullah that the conflict was “anticipatory.” According to Israeli daily Haaretz, Ehud Olmert told the Winograd Commission that as early as March 2006 - a full four months before the outbreak of the summer war - he had in place a military contingency plan should Hizbullah capture Israeli soldiers.
