Remember the old story about the relation between Al-Qaida, Bin Laden and USA during Rasia Afghanistan war? That relation which ended with a hard divorce between the two parties and now is called 9/11.
Well, this old story is now back to frontpages, but the hero this time is called Abd el Malik Regi.
Abd el Malik Regi is the young leader of a terrorist group supported by USA to fight their battle, but not in Afghanistan, instead, in Iran.
A breaking news report was published by ABC News that says:
A Pakistani tribal militant group responsible for a series of deadly guerrilla raids inside Iran has been secretly encouraged and advised by American officials since 2005, U.S. and Pakistani intelligence sources tell ABC News.
The group, called Jundullah, is made up of members of the Baluchi tribe and operates out of the Baluchistan province in Pakistan, just across the border from Iran.
It has taken responsibility for the deaths and kidnappings of more than a dozen Iranian soldiers and officials.
U.S. officials say the U.S. relationship with Jundullah is arranged so that the U.S. provides no funding to the group, which would require an official presidential order or “finding” as well as congressional oversight.
Tribal sources tell ABC News that money for Jundullah is funneled to its youthful leader, Abd el Malik Regi, through Iranian exiles who have connections with European and Gulf states.
A short video clip about the same can be found here!
Just in case you could not see the clip, here is the transcript:
Gibson led the April 3 World News:
“Good evening. We have an exclusive report tonight on efforts to undermine the government of Iran. Efforts undertaken with the knowledge of the U.S. government. Our chief investigative correspondent, Brian Ross, has uncovered a U.S. intelligence connection to a militant group in Pakistan that is conducting raids across that country’s border with Iran, raids that in some cases, have been deadly. The purpose of those attacks, to destabilize Iran. Brian is here, tonight, with details. Brian?”
Ross elaborated: “Charlie, U.S. and Pakistani sources tell ABC News that the U.S. has been secretly advising and encouraging a militant group that has carried out a series of guerrilla raids inside Iran, raids that have led to the deaths or capture of Iranian soldiers and officials. The group operates out of the Baluchistan province of Pakistan, just across the border from Iran. The group, made up of Baluchi tribesmen, has produced its own videos showing Iranian soldiers and border guards it says it has captured and brought back to Pakistan. U.S. government sources say the U.S. provides no direct funding of the group. But since 2005, has maintained ties to its youthful leader, this man, Abd el Malik Regi, who claims to have personally executed some of the Iranian captives.”
Alexis Debat, ABC News consultant: “He used to fight with the Taliban. He’s part drug smuggler, part Taliban, part Sunni activist.”
Ross: “Alexis Debat, a senior fellow on counter-terrorism at the Nixon Center and an ABC News consultant, says tribal sources told him Regi and his group, called Jundullah, are getting money funneled through Iranian exiles who have connections to European and Gulf state countries.”
Debat: “He is essentially commanding a force of several hundred guerilla fighters that stage attacks across the border into Iran on Iranian military officers, Iranian intelligence officers, kidnapping them, executing them on camera.”
Ross: “Most recently, Jundullah took credit for an attack in February that killed at least eleven members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards in the city of Zehedan. Last month, Iranian state television broadcast what it said were confessions by those responsible for that bus attack. They reportedly admitted to being members of Jundullah and said they had been trained for the mission at a secret location in Pakistan.”
Debat: “This absolutely could not happen without the approval at the most senior level of the Pakistani government.”
Ross: “In fact, Pakistani sources say the secret campaign against Iran was on the agenda when Vice President Cheney met with Pakistani President Musharaff in February. The only relationship with the group that the U.S. intelligence will admit to for the record, is seeking its help in tracking al Qaeda figures in that part of Pakistan. Other than that, U.S. officials say only they do not provide direct funding to the group to attack Iran. Charlie.”
Gibson, at anchor desk with Ross: “But, Brian, could a small group like this actually have an effect in destabilizing the Iranian government?”
Ross: “There is a belief by U.S. officials, that this minority group, plus four or five other minority groups, if stirred up, could in fact destabilize and upset the Tehran central government, leading to a destabilization.”
Gibson: “All right. Our chief investigative correspondent, Brian Ross. Brian will have more of his report later on Nightline.”
Now, after you watched this short news clip (or read the transcript), let’s keep the following in mind: “U.S. and Pakistani sources tell ABC News that the U.S. has been secretly advising and encouraging a militant group that has carried out a series of guerrilla raids inside Iran…
He used to fight with the Taliban. He’s part drug smuggler, part Taliban, part Sunni activist…” Brian Ross said.
Now, what did report failed to tell you, INTENTIONALLY? Of course I say intentionally because I can’t believe that such a story would be aired without any little research about the background of the “new” terrorist group.
By looking closer for more details about this terrorist group, we find some shocking (not to me) background. A quick google for “Jundulla” and you read:
- Jundullah reveals plan to attack US centre in Karachi (Times Of India - 20 Jul, 2004).
Pakistan on Tuesday stepped up security in Karachi following disclosure by a group of detained militants of a plot to attack the US Consulate and American military interests and other vital installations in this port city.
Nine activists of the newly formed Jundullah militant group, detained in connection with the attack on Karachi Corps Commander last month, have disclosed that they had planned to attack the US Consulate-general in Karachi besides targetting vehicles carrying US military cargo at the Karachi Port, an intelligence official said.
“Still there are threats of attack on the US Consulate and some other places and in the light of the information gleaned from the arrested Jundullah men, we have intensified security at all vital installations,” a senior government official was quoted as saying by a news report.
A confidential letter issued by intelligence agencies revealed that militants had planned to attack the US Consulate, senior police officials, a columnist of an English daily and some television artists, The News reported quoting the official.
- ‘Divine’ Mission (Pakistan - News Line - July 2004)
A new group of militants, calling themselves the ‘Army of God,’ have a hit-list of top army and government officials… (BTW, Jundullah means ‘Army of God’)
Jundullah’s name has been cited in the literature and CDs propagating Al-Qaeda ideology over the last few months. Members of the group were often seen discreetly distributing these CDs and pamphlets, free of charge, at various mosques in Karachi…
An investigator adds that the group was acting in retaliation against the government’s campaign to eradicate Al-Qaeda-linked fighters from its northwest border regions.
- Al-Qaeda’s New Face (Pakistan - News Line - August 2004)
…Coming from a similar middle-class ground, Attaur Rehman is yet another face of the new Islamic militancy in Pakistan. A graduate from Karachi University, he was arrested in June for masterminding a series of terrorist attacks in Karachi… He later broke away from the Jamaat to form his own militant group, Jundullah (Army of God), which draws its cadres mainly from the educated and professional classes.
According to police, Rehman is closely associated with Al-Qaeda’s network in Pakistan… A well-knit cell comprising some 20 militants, most of them in their 20s and 30s, Jundullah is one of the new and, perhaps, the most fierce of the militant groups behind the recent spate of violence in Karachi… Jundullah has also been involved in attacks on rangers, police stations, as well as the twin car bombings outside the Pakistan-US Cultural Center last month.
Jundullah is but one of several small terrorist cells that have emerged after the government’s crackdown on ‘jihadi’ elements. According to police officials, some 20 cells, largely splinters of the banned militant outfits, are operating in Karachi, which has become the main center of terrorist activities in recent months. “Many of those involved in the recent terrorist attacks in the city received training in camps in Waziristan,” says Tariq Jamil, chief of the Karachi police. “Jundullah has close ties with Al-Qaeda.”
So my friends, we are in front a new face of old terrorist group. Although these guys are well know connected to Al-Qaeda and its operation, they already attempted to kill Americans and they already committed terrorist attacks in Pakistan, yet, despite of this, they are supported by USA.
Does all of this ring a bill? Of course USA can’t go with al-Qaeda to fight Iran, so what they did? They invented a new name, collected few terrorists from the mother group and now supporting them to “destabilize ” Iran. And just to make it look romantic, they call the leader a Sunni activist!!!
Yes it might be a breaking-exclusive news for Brain Ross and ABC News, but, again, they are misleading the public by not telling the complete story, the relation between Jundullah, al-Qaeda and their administration. Why not? Because they don’t want you to even imagine or think that they have any relation (mutual benefit relation) with al-Qaeda. Not only that, but the fund and support its operations worldwide !!!
What can I say? Fellow Americans, my dear friends, remember this name, Abd el Malik Regi! It’s just a matter of time before this guy and his “US made terrorist group” will turn on its inventor (it already did in the past) and starts its “holy war” against you and your country (maybe mine too).
Yes, it is same old story but with new ‘lead actors’, mission, time and location.

Ross: “Alexis Debat, a senior fellow on counter-terrorism at the Nixon Center and an ABC News consultant, says tribal sources told him Regi and his group, called Jundullah, are getting money funneled through Iranian exiles who have connections to European and Gulf state countries.”

I hope some of those American Sheeep will woke up and understand what’s happening .
They just support Bush blindly ….
Forgot to tell you , Great Post Haitham
I will be sure to pass it to my Americans Friends
So typical.. History repeating itself.
Oops! Better watch my ass!
Same old, same old. The old saying is still true in the minds of most poeple today. “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.” A little short sighted by the US, but asymetrical warfare has been all the rage for sometime. I really think it is just a knee jerk reaction to Iran’s support of Badr and Hezbollah. Sad. It’ll bite us in the ass for sure.
And when we present facts they say: “hey… this is the conspiracy theory.” Well, if there is any other way to present facts, let me know
Who don’t the US support?
I have emailed Mr. Haitham Sabbah about this, but until he revises the entry I think readers should be aware that the Daily Times of Pakistan reported on April 6th that the Jandullah organization currently linked to the CIA by ABC News is not the same organization that operated in Pakistan in 2004 that was linked to Al Qaeda and attempted to bomb the U.S centre. They are two distinct organizations.
