Don’t miss this one. It just reflects part of the dilemma in the American society under Bush leadership.

I really feel sorry for those who are dying in Iraq, Afghanistan and everywhere else to fulfill the Ziocon’s dreams.

Elizabeth is the epitomy of the dumb blond!! (NOTHING against blonds)

Please note, the National Security Archives released the info PROVING the Gulf of Tonkin intel was skewed to get us into war in Viet Nam.
    http://www.gwu.edu/~nsarchiv/NSAEBB/NSAEBB132/press20051201.htm
Here are the LBJ tapes http://www.gwu.edu/~nsarchiv/NSAEBB/NSAEBB132/tapes.htm

And that’s just what the NSA has released, numerous books have been written on this FACT.

Now Elizabeth, get your blond ostrich head out of the sand.

Note: When Eisenhower left office he gave a very famous speech
    http://coursesa.matrix.msu.edu/~hst306/documents/indust.html
Military-Industrial Complex Speech 1961. He warned gravely of the growing power of the military/industrial complex. Our economy is BUILT on the military industrial complex, it needs constant feeding. Refer to the whole speech but he warned:

” Until the latest of our world conflicts, the United States had no armaments industry. American makers of plowshares could, with time and as required, make swords as well. But now we can no longer risk emergency improvisation of national defense; we have been compelled to create a permanent armaments industry of vast proportions. Added to this, three and a half million men and women are directly engaged in the defense establishment. We annually spend on military security more than the net income of all United States corporations.

This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence — economic, political, even spiritual — is felt in every city, every State house, every office of the Federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources and livelihood are all involved; so is the very structure of our society.

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the militaryindustrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.”

Has Elizabeth ever heard of “Rebuilding America’s Defenses”
    http://www.newamericancentury.org/RebuildingAmericasDefenses.pdf
(Wolfowitz was a member who prepared it)
From that lovely think tank PNAC http://www.newamericancentury.org/
that wrote a letter to then president Clinton urging him to overthrow Saddam LONG before 911? http://www.newamericancentury.org/
(Robert Zoellick Bush’s CURRENT nominee to the World Bank signed it)

Some of us DO know and are APPALLED!!
Good reading: “Nemesis” by Chalmer’s Johnson detailing our current military footprint in the world. SASQUACH!

    And Rosie, THANK YOU!!!!!

    Robin Says:

If I may Sabbah, I would like very much to address an entity who has read this post and linked to me immediately following my comment That entity is the US Department of State. While not long ago, an employ of the USDS
held a conversation with you, they are currently still watching here as well as other places which questions my government’s policies. This is troubling to me on several accounts and I wonder, are they also monitoring the sites which agree whole-heartedly with their policies, or is it only those who do not? While those of us who QUESTION said policies as our Constitutional right in our democracy, the fact we are being monitored begs the question as to what threat we pose, when we are exercising our RIGHTS. Those of us in the peace movement have absolutely NO desire to use any form of subversion to undermine our Constitution, which IS the law of our land. We DO however seek to point to areas in which our own government is violating that same law which governs all of us here in America. We are by our own definition, a “nation of laws”, and while interpretation of the Constitution is the job of the judiciary, the executive branch has taken it upon themselves to monitor those of us seeking to work WITHIN the law. Whether it be US law or international law, this is where we seek justice. Yet we are singled out as “questionable” and “suspicious”. Rosie included.

I say this to my government, and to the US Department of State who is reading here and other places. Listen and learn. If what you are taking from us is our desire for peace and our condemnation of state sponsored terrorism as evidenced in the ability to murder millions with the use of gun-boat diplomacy, then you will KNOW, we seek a world in which freedom and justice is afforded to all as codified in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as adopted by the UN (and drawn from many historical efforts to insure the inalienable rights of each individual, similar to what is written in the preamble of our own Constition) and whose main author himself was an American, John Peters Humphrey (and greatly influenced by Eleanor Roosevelt)

Adopted and proclaimed by General Assembly resolution 217 A (III) of 10 December 1948

On December 10, 1948 the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights the full text of which appears in the following pages. Following this historic act the Assembly called upon all Member countries to publicize the text of the Declaration and “to cause it to be disseminated, displayed, read and expounded principally in schools and other educational institutions, without distinction based on the political status of countries or territories.”

    PREAMBLE

Whereas recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world,

Whereas disregard and contempt for human rights have resulted in barbarous acts which have outraged the conscience of mankind, and the advent of a world in which human beings shall enjoy freedom of speech and belief and freedom from fear and want has been proclaimed as the highest aspiration of the common people,

Whereas it is essential, if man is not to be compelled to have recourse, as a last resort, to rebellion against tyranny and oppression, that human rights should be protected by the rule of law,

Whereas it is essential to promote the development of friendly relations between nations,

Whereas the peoples of the United Nations have in the Charter reaffirmed their faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person and in the equal rights of men and women and have determined to promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom,

Whereas Member States have pledged themselves to achieve, in co-operation with the United Nations, the promotion of universal respect for and observance of human rights and fundamental freedoms,

Whereas a common understanding of these rights and freedoms is of the greatest importance for the full realization of this pledge,

Now, Therefore THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY proclaims THIS UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS as a common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations, to the end that every individual and every organ of society, keeping this Declaration constantly in mind, shall strive by teaching and education to promote respect for these rights and freedoms and by progressive measures, national and international, to secure their universal and effective recognition and observance, both among the peoples of Member States themselves and among the peoples of territories under their jurisdiction.

Rosie is a FAT, LESBIAN, with admitted severe emotional and psychological problems. I can explain her paranoia away to medication, but I’m at a loss to explain the paranoia of the Arabs. Is it a result of perceiving oneself as coming from an abused society/culture? Scarring from a colonial past? Coming from, and growing up in a part of the world where there is no free press, warping ones perception of reality? I am a Muslim, no fan of the Israelis, and support a viable Palestinian homeland. But how does one carry on a conversation with someone that tells you the sun will not rise tomorrow, and truly believes the sun will not rise? And that it will be the fault of the Americans and Israelis, of course. Truly depressing.

    john mccarthy Says:

When our forefathers put together the Declaration of Independance they discussed, with great vision, what US Citizens could and should do if a tyrant happened to become elected as president and, after swearing to protect and defend the Constitution, consistently abused that oath by tearing at the very fabric of our laws by abolishing habeas corpus, arresting folks without warrants, incarcerating alleged ‘terrorists’ with out charges, access to attorney and undergoing torture and “enhanced interrogation techniques” in violation of existing US Laws. And if that was not enough to scare the hell out of concerned citizens, then we were advised that “extraordinary rendition” had been under way since 911. This procedure provides for an individual to be transfered, in secret, to other countries who ALLOW torture to gain information from potential terrorists or innocents alike.

George Washington said citizens could use what ever means necessary to remove such a president from office.

Those who voted for the Patriot Act and the War Powers Act DID NOT read the information before signing and voting for passage.

Now we hear that those running for president today would never have voted for these Act’s if they had the information which refutes that presented by the White House. HuH? All those who voted for these Act’s have been in Washington long enough to know when to challenge questionable information regarding going to war! Congress keeps shouting that they alone have the power to declare war. Does this latest episode of voting for war show us the depth of our Congress’ ability to conduct a comprehensive investigation before committing our cherished resources, our citizens, to combat? These are the same folks who would make the decision to authorize the president to launch nuclear weapons?

We have become the aggressor nation in violaion of the Nuremberg Findings we WE signed onto in 1950. We are now a nation of war criminals because these misadventures are IN OUR NAMES!

    Bests,
    John
