Video: Palestinian economics under occupation

Sam Bahour is a Palestinian-American businessman living in the besieged Palestinian City of Al-Bireh in the West Bank. He is co-editor of HOMELAND: Oral Histories of Palestine and Palestinians (1994). Originally from Cleveland, Ohio (USA), Sam has contributed much to development in Palestine, in spite of the Occupation's many obstacles in the way of economic progress. He is active in MYRTOE, "My Right to Reenter," challenging Israel's new restrictions on international passport holders entering the West bank. He delivered this talk at the Bil'in international nonviolence Conference on 19 April 2007.

Dr. Mohamed Schtyer is Professor of Economics at Bir Zeit University. He was a founding member Pal housing council, and president of the Palestinian Center for Regional Studies, former Palestinian Minister of Public Works and Housing and president of the Palestinian Council for Development and Reconstruction. He is a recipient of the French Medal of Devalier de Ward National du Monde by French President Jacque Chirac. Schtyer catalogs how the Occupation of the Palestinian territories can be ended from an economic perspective.
