The Invincible Fatah al-Islam in Nahr al-Bared

Almost two months, and the crisis of Nahr el-Bared camp continues, despite the fact that few weeks ago, the Lebanese Defense Minster announced ‘victory’, yet no one knows what and how many terrorists of Fateh al Islam is still alive and fighting back except the Lebanese army. But what we know for sure is that ‘victory’ is still far away and 31,000 displaced Palestinian refugees of Nahr al-Bared are still sharing shelters with their 18,000 brother refugees of Badawi refugee camp, which was over crowded before receiving Nahr al-Bared refugees.

It looks like the Lebanese army is not ready to end the operations of unknown reasons. It is not logic that a state army is not able to end this operation regardless of the number of the terrorist fighters in the camp, specially with all the support and arms they got from U.S.

It is either one of two things:

1. The actual operation has ended but political figures are planing something for the camp future so they prolong the claimed operation until the new plans are ready. Plans such as those leaked days after the clashes started.

2. or, the Lebanese army is so weak to kill and arrest all the remains of these terrorists despite the fact that there is no stone left standing in the camp after continuous air and artillery shell raids that we heard of, not to mention those we didn’t hear of.

What surprise me (or should I say, NOT surprise me, knowing who covers the story) is that the crisis of the Palestinian refugees who used to live in Nahr el-Bared camp is absent from news titles and headlines for few weeks now. No one talks about it as if everything has reached to an end, and maybe that’s true if we look at it from the Lebanese Defense Minister view. The end of Nahr el-Bared as a Palestinian camp is a start of a new crisis in the Palestinian refugees history regardless of the suffering of the refugees who fled the camp hoping to return to their ‘temporary’ shells to continue their dreams of returning home, Palestine.

Life under siege in Nahr al-Bared - 13 Jul 07 - Aljazeera:

The obstacles to end the battle now the Lebanese army is claiming are the 400 refugees left in the camp, which happens to be family members of Fateh al-Islam militia, according to reports. Despite the fact that the Lebanese army did not hesitate to carpet bomb the camp before and after evacuating the refugees, killing civilians as well as terrorists.

Who is benefiting from this ongoing crisis? You may ask the Lebanese government and the ‘brave’ Palestinian leaders inside and outside Lebanon.

Could it be that the Lebaneese are trying to make the US and the Israelis happy?
Let’s kill a few more Palestinian terrorists to make them happy.
They live in pathetic conditions. If they complain they are terrorists.
If they try to go home they are terrorists.
Their lands were stolen by terrorist Zionists so they can’t go back.
The Palestinians at home are losing land to Zionist terrorists every day.
    WTF.
How can negotiations help the Palestinians?
The Zionists steal land and the US supports them.

Duh, just because an Army treads carefully to spare lives, people like you jump and scream conspiracy. Good thing you don’t cover the news.

    Mustapha,
The Lebaneese army didn’t step lightly.
    Yes, terrorists should be stopped.
Lebanon is looking for mucho money from the West to help them.
Don’t forget that Hamas won a legitimate free election in Palestein and the West condemned them. Think about it! A free democratic election that Bush asked for. And he condemned it.
Hamas was in many parts the only source for social services in Palestein because Fatah was corrupt.
Basic point to make, is don’t ask the question if you don’t wan’t the answer.
