There is work to be done!!
http://www.cair.com/Portals/0/pdf/American_Muslim_Voter_Survey_2008.pdf

That report was just released Wednesday "American Muslim Voters and the 2008 Election: A Demographic Profile and Survey of Attitudes" It claims one in four Muslim Americans who were polled who have voiced a preference voiced a preference for Hillary, one in five for Obama. Again, I'm not giving a ringing endorsement of Obama, but one in FOUR for Hillary? Cluster bombs dropped on Lebanon ring a bell? Hillary thinks cluster bombs shouldn't be banned. Hillary's BIG ties to AIPAC set off any alarms? Her vote FOR the Kyle-Lieberman amendment worry anyone? http://thinkprogress.org/2007/09/25/webb-kyl-lieb-iran/
The percentage should be NO Muslim Americans voting for Hillary. Or at least that's my humble opinion.

Haitham,
There WAS a good candidate out there, he never had a chance of winning, and he dropped out just recently, but he WAS good for America, AND good for the Middle East. That was Dennis Kucinich. He was the only candidate in my mind who had it all going for him, he is BRILLIANT. Besides his brilliance, he didn't compromise. I don't know how many people know this, but he hired Noura Erekat, (US Campaign to Stop the Occupation, daughter of Saeb Erekat)to work on his subcommittee of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee. Guess who chairs that committee? Henry Waxman, STAUNCH Zionist. Dennis was NOT afraid of him-in fact-he's never afraid of anyone. He also made a few trips to Syria to discuss things with them. Mind you, this is when our administration is officially refusing to have open discussions with them and we all remember the reaction Nancy Pelosi (he went before her) got when she went there. He was also promoting major campaign finance reform, the kind NEEDED to get the PACS out of electing our officials and giving those with less money an equal chance to be elected. WOW, isn't that's a thought!

Dennis had a PROGRESSIVE plan for everything needed for America, he NEVER voted in any way to support the war on Iraq, he circulated a letter in the Out of Iraq Caucus in support of Ehren Watada, (war resister) he led the impeachment charge, and he wanted the Department of Defense to be replaced by a Department of Peace. Many thought that was a whacky idea, but Dennis wasn't just about changing our country's direction, he was about changing our country's psyche to come in to line with what we CLAIM to be, but not only fall short of, but down right are hypocrites about.

You asked who would be good for America. When it comes to Israel, what people MUST know, is that by blindly supporting Israel, we go against every single American value we claim to have. Gated golf clubs denying blacks and others entry were struck down by the supreme court. Gated golf clubs also were never allowed to set up gated housing projects for their members, with members only roads to them cutting through the other communities using "eminent domain" thus making a "city" impossible for non members! Ironically, these gated golf clubs also banned Jews from joining. Our civil rights movement fought HARD to win the rights for minorities. Our laws BAN discrimination and there is redress and harsh punishment if one discriminates on the bases of race, affiliation or sex. How can ANYONE who holds our laws precious support the racist state of Israel? I just do NOT get it. For instance, the other day I was reading a Zionist American (Jewish in this case) waxing polemically about our own pluralistic country, he had even fought in the civil rights movement, THEN he went on to talk about how lovely his second home was, Israel, the JEWISH homeland. Can't anyone see the contradiction here? And that goes for ALL who support Israel as a "Jewish homeland". What about the 20% of the population who is Palestinian who live third class lives, what about the ILLEGAL and BRUTAL occupation, the longest ongoing military occupation in existance?

Having said all of this we are now faced with the REALITY of the upcoming primaries (if your state hasn't already held them) and the presidential race in November. I'd like to say I'm a dreamer, but I live in the REAL WORLD-a world in which no other party other than the Reps and Dems have a chance of winning the presidency at this point in time. We have a SCAREY slate of candidates offered to us. The Republicans offer someone who makes up new song lyrics for oldies, "Bomb Bomb Iran" (not to mention his polices), someone who thinks the Constitution needs to be amended to come more in line with the Bible (Huckabee), someone whose favorite word is like a broken record, "Islamofacsism" (rumored to be dropping out, Giuliani), someone who is the darling of the white supremacists (Ron Paul-yes I know he's liked by others, but that in itself scares the hell out of me-and he has NO chance of winning) and the lesser of all the evils only because the others are so untenable, Romney. The Democrats are offering up Billary and Obama (Kucinich had been shut out of the debates even)

Out of all of these VIABLE candidates who is best for America? Note, I said VIABLE, it is by far Obama-now even saying that makes me want to bite off my own tongue when it comes to his recent UN letter antic and such. But the old adage "you get out of something what you put in to it" comes to mind. Our duties as American citizens do NOT end at the polling booths when we vote. NO ONE can walk away and say, "See, I've never missed voting, I'm a good citizen" if that is ALL they do. These elected officials are serving US as citizens, NOT the other way around.
ALL the viable potential candidates besides Obama, MUST be beaten. Kerry certainly was a worse choice than Obama, but God knows, he would have been better than Bush, especially when you are asking about America (I'm referring in this case to Americans having their own civil liberties being taken away by our OWN government, NOT "Islamofascists" as they would want to make you think, but by our GOVERNMENT)

We are in SUCH a mess, it's going to take years to get out of it. The Iraq war is going to bankrupt us financially, and has already bankrupted us morally. Obama is the only candidate left standing who did not vote to authorize Bush to use military force in Iraq. That tells me he a great deal about him. One, he was SMART, two, he was unafraid to make a possible political suicide move by standing UP to those around him. He has also stated quite clearly he is willing to TALK to Iran and Syria and that is certainly better than then what the others are saying.

So.......after this LONG answer, I would tell every one, PLEASE keep in mind how awful the slate is, do NOT throw your vote on to someone who has NO chance of winning, and give it to the candidate that does, Obama.
This is not a ringing endorsement, it is a STRATEGIC endorsement because NONE of the other candidates are even SLIGHTLY acceptable.

Then write letters, call, get an appointment and talk directly to those in his campaign and let him know how you feel. If Hillary wins the nomination, God help us all, if she or the Republican candidate wins the election, then God help us all.

I do not fall prey to political speeches, they are mere rhetoric, but as far as INSPIRATION, watch this (again, not a ringing endorsement)

Can\'t anyone see the contradiction here? And that goes for ALL who support Israel as a \"Jewish homeland\". What about the 20% of the population who is Palestinian who live third class lives, what about the ILLEGAL and BRUTAL occupation, the longest ongoing military occupation in existance?\r\n\r\nHaving said all of this we are now faced with the REALITY of the upcoming primaries (if your state hasn\'t already held them) and the presidential race in November. I\'d like to say I\'m a dreamer, but I live in the REAL WORLD-a world in which no other party other than the Reps and Dems have a chance of winning the presidency at this point in time. We have a SCAREY slate of candidates offered to us. The Republicans offer someone who makes up new song lyrics for oldies, \"Bomb Bomb Iran\" (not to mention his polices), someone who thinks the Constitution needs to be amended to come more in line with the Bible (Huckabee), someone whose favorite word is like a broken record, \"Islamofacsism\" (rumored to be dropping out, Giuliani), someone who is the darling of the white supremacists (Ron Paul-yes I know he\'s liked by others, but that in itself scares the hell out of me-and he has NO chance of winning) and the lesser of all the evils only because the others are so untenable, Romney. The Democrats are offering up Billary and Obama (Kucinich had been shut out of the debates even)\r\n\r\nOut of all of these VIABLE candidates who is best for America? Note, I said VIABLE, it is by far Obama-now even saying that makes me want to bite off my own tongue when it comes to his recent UN letter antic and such. But the old adage \"you get out of something what you put in to it\" comes to mind. Our duties as American citizens do NOT end at the polling booths when we vote. NO ONE can walk away and say, \"See, I\'ve never missed voting, I\'m a good citizen\" if that is ALL they do. These elected officials are serving US as citizens, NOT the other way around.\r\nALL the viable potential candidates besides Obama, MUST be beaten. Kerry certainly was a worse choice than Obama, but God knows, he would have been better than Bush, especially when you are asking about America (I\'m referring in this case to Americans having their own civil liberties being taken away by our OWN government, NOT \"Islamofascists\" as they would want to make you think, but by our GOVERNMENT) \r\n\r\nWe are in SUCH a mess, it\'s going to take years to get out of it. He has also stated quite clearly he is willing to TALK to Iran and Syria and that is certainly better than then what the others are saying.\r\n\r\nSo.......after this LONG answer, I would tell every one, PLEASE keep in mind how awful the slate is, do NOT throw your vote on to someone who has NO chance of winning, and give it to the candidate that does, Obama.\r\nThis is not a ringing endorsement, it is a STRATEGIC endorsement because NONE of the other candidates are even SLIGHTLY acceptable.\r\n\r\nThen write letters, call, get an appointment and talk directly to those in his campaign and let him know how you feel. If Hillary wins the nomination, God help us all, if she or the Republican candidate wins the election, then God help us all. \r\n\r\nI do not fall prey to political speeches, they are mere rhetoric, but as far as INSPIRATION, watch this (again, not a ringing endorsement)\r\nhttp:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=-iVAPH_EcmQ\r\n\r\nThe \"dreamer\" would wave a wand and Kucinich would be president. When he dropped out, he gave his support to Obama. AGAIN, I am not giving a ringing endorsement because of that letter and his crappy speech last year to AIPAC.'); return false;">Quote

Hillary is simply an ass. There's no other word for it, no details necessary! http://www.commondreams.org/archive/2008/01/30/6730/

Thank you for the post, my sister in law who isn't really political last night asked me to compile a list of reasons why she shouldn't vote for Hillary who she seems to think is the best choice. She said, "I need proof, send it" when I told her Hillary was the biggest hawk, paid for by corporate interests there is candidate. I HOPE she doesn't think voting for the use of cluster bombs is a good thing! Just one more detail of why NO ONE should vote for Hillary Clinton!<div class="comment-remix-meta"><a href="#" class="replyto" onclick="replyto('348444','Robin'); return false;">Reply</a> - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('348444','Robin','Hillary is simply an ass.
