America doesn’t “beat” propaganda into anyone’s heads. Hitler did. North Korea does. Stalin certainly did. But not in America – thus the whole “freedom” thing.

I loved Listening to Mr Finkelstein , Spot on. Yes Arabs tend to forget very quickly and roll red carpets for the murderes of their fellow brothers and children because many are cowards, with no personality and no guts . IF you have to receive Bush (because you have to ) you dont have to treat him like your closest friend , dance with him , hug him, give him a wissam and expensive gifts . Just be professional and firm and show you have some dignity .
Israelis have their EYE on the Litani river since the zionist conference in 1919 in Paris . and they wont rest until they have it . Fortunately Mr Nasrallah wont have them have it . in 1919 they had decided to take the Litani , jordan river and the Golan . So far they have 2 out of 3 , they are now after the Litani , unfortuntaely Many lebanse do not read History Books . (like those in Siniora Goverment and will trust the zionists in washington )

Mr FInkelstein was just brilliant . I love his speech and Yes he is right about jews behaving properly with those who hurt them , that s how it should be ,i respect that kind of behaviour . the behaviour of the Gulf people recently with Bush made me Gag . TFOU .

This may be a little off topic, but Norm Finkelstein came to my college last week. He is such a brilliant man, and I was pumped I got to meet him.

As for the post, I agree here. Hizballah has the same ideology as, say, the American military: they would rather die for their freedom than let a tyrannical force oversee them. I don’t understand how that is any different than the “freedom” propaganda which is beaten into Americans’ heads all the time.

did he say this in the video? it’s no longer available. i have a real problem with finkelstein making comments like these. it’s not his place to support (or be against) hezballah, and it’s not his place to call any arab a sell out. if you or i wanted to call these arabs sell outs, that would be a different thing, and we could talk about that, but a white jewish man calling them sell outs? i don’t think so.

You still have to respect him.
He tells the truth.
I don’t live in Lebanon.
I have never went through an occupation unless you think about my Western Government.
My parents were Resistance Fighters during WWII.
What I am trying to say that empathy is important even though we do not understand the actual facts of an occupation.

well, this person can claim whomever he wishes a brave or a coward. when he lives in lebanon, and faces the daily shit of electricity, water, and transportation damage.. Unemployment, car bombings, Inflation, political crisis, and sees his whole country sinking in misery… then and only then, he can form opinions about who is right and who is wrong. Even then, he has to respect others will to build a country and catch on with the rest of the world that many arabs deserve to have!
