Message from my sister in Jenin

Written by Haitham Sabbah on 11. March 2008, 1753hrs // Part of Haitham Sabbah's adventure in Israel, Palestine, Video // Other posts by Haitham Sabbah

I could not find the right words to put as introduction for this short clip.

Just watch and listen to what this little girl (and millions like here, including me) says:

Millions of Palestinians died, millions are living, but more million will be born.

What next?

The message is very powerful. It would have been even moreso if you had shown that your little sister was right: after the destruction shown from 2002, the camp has been completely rebuilt. You could have shown the beautiful new school provided by the Emirates and the miraculous regeneration of The Freedom Theatre. All this in spite of the atrocities from the Battle of Jenin and the ongoing incursions and killings by the Israeli army.
Thank you for preserving that footage from an earlier time.

Of course the camp was rebuilt, but it is still under occupation. Palestine is still occupied and here message fits for each and every part of Palestine under occupation. This is the real message.

By God fear friend - I have been there, in Jenin, about eight days after the foracious attack in 2002 … have seen girls like the one in the clip … have watched elderly women walk with their heads up, proud, strong … found torn-up copybooks in the rubble, a bottle with brined olives on tyhe ground near total destruction, a doll … got a paper from a little girl with the writing “WE WILL NEVER FORGIVE, WE WILL NEVER FORGET”. I have watched the people there, driven by the tent-city … believe me, it all tore my heart to pieces. it’s certainly one of those moments I will never forget …

And the girl at the end … I had attended once a performance of a dance-group which recited poems after the dance. I have seen a girl exactly like the one at the end of the clip, reciting with tears streaming down her face. To some this may seem somewhat hysterical - believe me it is NOT. I remember myself sitting there after all had finished … I was unable to move, felt like struck by a lightening, was shocked. It was the most striking performances I have ever seen … it impressed me to the bone, touched a very deep nerve. What a love for their land, what determination … what GREAT people!!

I am sorry but I have to ask this question.
I thought that this girl said Jihad that wasn’t in the translation.
I have to ask questions. I have to know. The answer wont change my mind.
I just don’t want to be deceived.
You are still my brother with a better tan.
