Why does the United States continue to support the Israeli incursions into Gaza? There has been an official death toll of 120 Palestinian dead since the IDF made its incursions over the past few weeks. Nothing is said on the US Mainstream Press about the Palestinian deaths while much is made about the assault on the Israeli Para-military school run by the infamous Rabbi Kook who was teaching young Israeli men in the art of war. This attack also happened in East Jerusalem which is really not Israeli territory but is an "occupied status".
Meanwhile Condoleezza Rice who arrived in the area made a speech about the violence in Gaza, but never mentioned the word "cease-fire". Apparently the United States has no objection to the decimation of the indigenous people of Gaza since Hama's won a democratic election in 2006 and took power there in 2007. It would seem that Democracy is what the United States wants for the world, but only if the results are what they wish.
Meanwhile, the US gave Egypt one billion dollars for "counter-terrorism" purposes, but many speculate that the money will be used to convince the Egyptians to eradicate the tunnels under the Gaza strip that the Palestinian people are using to feed themselves and get other much needed supplies. The Israeli Government has made veiled threats that a re-occupation of Gaza is forthcoming if not imminent. The Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni has been warning Western leaders that this could be the case. The Israeli press has also reported that plans are being made to re-occupy Gaza. The United States seems to be in line with that decision.Print | | Digg | Stumble | delicious | Tweet | Technorati | Reddit | Yahoo | GoogleWith the new settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, one must wonder what are Israel's plans and the purpose of the so-called peace talks that are taking place between the Israeli's and the Palestinians. Is this just more rhetoric coming from the ultra-right government of Israel? Are the decisions that they are making now really leading to a meaningful peace process? All over the Arab world the focus on TV and in the media has been on the violence and bloodshed in Gaza. The United States is looked at as propping up the fanatical government of Olmert while fellow Arabs die. Is this the picture that American citizens want the world to see of America? Why can't we reign in Israel? Why do we sacrifice any semblance of goodwill toward the Arab nations by constantly siding with Israel whether it is right or wrong?
This is a question that we should be asking our elected representatives and the Bush Administration,. For if ever there was a terrorist State, Israel can now be pointed to as being top on the list of nations that use force instead of negotiation. Have our politicians taken so much of AIPAC's money that they are monetarily blinded by what's happening in the Middle East? This seems to be exactly the case. The two Democratic contenders for the White House have booth come down squarely on the side of Israel. I guess it's just too difficult to take the high road at the risk of being called anti-Semitic or losing the large block of Jewish voters here in the US. When politics triumphs morality, maybe a better system of government is needed right here in America.
Personally, I am appalled at Obama and Clinton's stance. There is only one reason that they could possibly support Israel's current MO and that is AIPAC's money and turning off the Jewish electorate. There can be no other reason. If the Presidency is so important in these two people's lives that they will condone the death of hundreds to become elected, than maybe it's time we stopped looking at them as possible Presidents. This is the Bush mentality in action. It seems as if Bush thinks something might be good for him politically or economically, the numbers of dead that follow have no effect on his reasoning. We are seeing the same with the Democratic candidates.
The people of this nation should be demanding to see the carnage that is Gaza should be stopped, even if a UN peace-keeping force is needed. Israel has no right at all to indiscriminately kill those they have differences with. This state of affairs has gone on far too long.
That's the way I see it.

Too much money by Zionist lobbyists for all American politicians will make sure that they can continue their oppression of Palestinians.
End of story.
Haitham there are 7 in my house that support you and your people. Honestly America is unconcerned with anyone's needs beside themselves. I fear that things may soon take a turn for the worse for both of us. America is getting ready to enter Iran. When that time comes the zionist occupational forces will unleash their full wrath on Palestine. America or another unsuspecting country will have a catastophic event and our own government will turn against its people. Why else would Barak agree to a temporary ceasefire? Be careful brother.

Unfortunately, the world is unaware that Americans are battling a war at home against corporations and government powers that want to keep all citizens ignorant. Our children are taught from a very early age a one-sided history of the world. They are raised to be consumers, workers and soldiers, but not encouraged to think.
Our news media is manipulated but still presented as being inclusive and fair. Some even tell outright lies, for example I have heard talk shows claim Israel has had more deaths over the past few weeks than Palestine, they just keep them secret because if they told the world the terrorists would be encouraged. This is a complete lie to manipulate American listeners into siding with Israel.
The internet is the only source of unfiltered information, and the powers are desperate to control it. If they are ever able to restrict the information we read online, we will be truly doomed.
I honestly believe that Americans are good-hearted and desire justice and fairness, but they are easily fooled and too eager to trust those who are powerful. They are kept comfortable and complacent by the system, so there is no desire for most people to question the order of the world.
This morning I was horrified. From my kitchen I heard on the tv, "HELP ISRAEL". I trotted in to my den to see what this was. It was a commercial complete with a man who showed a building damaged by a rocket, crying children, a hysterical mother and the absolute plea to HELP ISRAEL complete with phone number where to send your money. It was very early morning on Fox (of course). Let it be known I am not a fan of rockets because as I see it as an American (and a pacifist), it gives an excuse and makes for great fodder for the pro-Israel crowd. BUT, excuse me, ONE person has died recently from these rockets which again, I am NOT a fan of. How many Palestinians have died at the hands of the the Israelis who have ADVANCED military equipment who keep making "mistakes"? Too many to even count over the years and just recently over 120 in one week alone, INFANTS for God's sake. How many Palestinians have been uprooted from their ancestoral homes to make way for people who have NOT lived on this land themselves EVER? So their (supposed) ancestors lived there a couple of thousand years ago, does that justify ANY of this which has been going on for the last one hundred years plus since Zionism raised its' ugly head as a so-called answer to Jewish identity? NO! Simple LOGIC should tell people that there is something very wrong with this scenario and who the TRUE victims are. LOGIC people, LOGIC.
For the last 3 days, is was relatively calm in Gaza (despite the continuous crimes of Israel in West Bank). Today only, 8 Palestinians were killed by Israeli air strikes in Gaza. Palestinian there responded by firing 4 pipes (aka Qassam "rokets") on a nearby Israeli colony.
As usual, you will find nothing about the Israeli air strikes in the Western Media, but no one will miss the pipes! If at any chance you find anything about the air strikes, you will see that they will altered the truth and made is sound that Israeli strikes came after the pipes.
Long live "free media"!
ONLY 8 KILLED? That is 8 too many.
Please don't use the word "only" when you refer to Palestinians murdered.
1 is too many.
