I was born raised in a Protestant family, but I could describe myself as cosmopolitan and atheist too. "Citizen of the world" is a rather redundant and empty phrase. One of the definitions of "cosmopolitan" in relation to society:

"Having constituent elements from all over the world or from many different parts of the world: the ancient and cosmopolitan societies of Syria and Egypt."

The U.S., Canada, European nations, and others are cosmopolitan.

A definition related to persons:

"So sophisticated as to be at home in all parts of the world or conversant with many spheres of interest"

Then there is cultural cosmopolitanism:

"Cultural cosmopolitanism pertains to wide international experience. It refers to a partiality for cultures besides one's own culture of origin, as with a traveller or globally conscious person. The term derives from Greek κόσμος (cosmos) meaning world + πολίτης (politēs) meaning citizen, and was widely used by ancient philosophers, such as the Stoics and Cynics, to describe a universal love of humankind as a whole, regardless of nation. The term may also be used as a synonym for 'worldly' or 'sophisticated'."

One of the problems with religions, including zionism, is that they promote particularism as opposed to cosmopolitanism.<div class="comment-remix-meta"><a href="#" class="replyto" onclick="replyto('352513','bernarda'); return false;">Reply</a> - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('352513','bernarda','I was born raised in a Protestant family, but I could describe myself as cosmopolitan and atheist too. \"Citizen of the world\" is a rather redundant and empty phrase.
Dear Gilad,

The essay is interesting.

The particularism that you attempt to bring forth to foster a specific
agenda disguised in universalistic terms is thought provoking. Another
chap has written extensively on this very matter under the title
"culture of critique"
(amazon.com/Culture-Critique-Evolutionary-Twentieth-Century-Intellectual/dp/0759672229)
- don't know if you have seen it, so just fyi, his website and online
version of its text can be found at: csulb.edu/~kmacd/books.htm. KM is
frequently dismissed as anti-semitic, and on that yardstick, I might
add, you too would rank pretty high yourself, except with the additional
twist 'self-hating'.

However, divorcing ourselves from our own selfish self-interests, and looking
at humanity from 'Mars' employing the Biblical Golden Rule,
yes there is some truth in the intellectual framework you analyzed.

Would you say that it is naturally evolutionary as a 'self-defense' mechanism
of a beleaguered peoples carrying the weight of thousands of years of history
(supposedly, a notion that Noam Chomsky rejects, but Israel Shahak
wrote much about), or deliberate collective attempt at securing their
'rights' rooted in the 'ubermensch' vs. goeym morality that jumps out
in the teachings of rabbinical judaism (or the talmudic literature to
be precise, as is also delineated amply in the late prof. Shahak's
writings available by googling his name)?

Is it the Diaspora, is it the Talmudic induced superiority complex, or
is it only an antediluvian self-defense that need no longer have any
currency in the modernity of 21st century? The latter can only happen
with reverse indoctrination of Zionism as the lofty creed that is
deliberately sold to the Jews, as noted by the late Tanya Rheinhart in
the very opening page of her book 'How to end the war of 1948'.

In other words, is there an intellectual rebuttal response to this essay
“Islamofascism - Zionofascism - Judeofascism etc. An equitable distribution of Collateral Language!” at humanbeingsfirst.org? Or is there any truth to it in your view?

It would be great if your exposition was also in the historical
backdrop of the 'ubermensch' notion espoused in legacy convolutions
of a beleaguered peoples, and see what is the first intellectual
prime-mover of this 'particularism' that pretty much dominates all
political discourse in the West today. Whatever the underlying
reasons, not only are these perceptions detrimental to the entire
Jewish peoples today (for instance see
dawn.com/2002/05/20/fea.htm#3), but precludes reaching the
real solution-space efficaciously by continually misdiagnosing the root
cause problem-space. I don't know all the answers, nor all the
questions to ask. I can however, only observe what is manifest for all
to see, as noted in the Postscript message to the Jews as a peoples,
in my 2003 book, at PrisonersoftheCave.org.

Thanks for being a man of conscience Gilad, and a fantastic role model
for the rest of us - especially in how to stand up for truth and
justice even when it may fall against one's own peoples. This is such
a difficult thing thing to do that those successfully able to conduct
themselves accordingly (as opposed to merely by making noises), to my
humble imagination, are the role models for all humanity - for the
cleansing of 'garbage' must begin at home, for each one of us.

Regards,

Zahir.

I can however, only observe what is manifest for all\r\nto see, as noted in the Postscript message to the Jews as a peoples,\r\nin my 2003 book, at PrisonersoftheCave.org.\r\n\r\nThanks for being a man of conscience Gilad, and a fantastic role model\r\nfor the rest of us - especially in how to stand up for truth and\r\njustice even when it may fall against one\'s own peoples. This is such\r\na difficult thing thing to do that those successfully able to conduct\r\nthemselves accordingly (as opposed to merely by making noises), to my\r\nhumble imagination, are the role models for all humanity - for the\r\ncleansing of \'garbage\' must begin at home, for each one of us.\r\n \r\n \r\nRegards,\r\n\r\nZahir.\r\nProject Humanbeingsfirst.org'); return false;">Quote

Most of the Jewish people just want peace.

Most of the Palestinians just want to live.

The Israeli government is trying to end either possibility.<div class="comment-remix-meta"><a href="#" class="replyto" onclick="replyto('352503','thrpoetryman'); return false;">Reply</a> - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('352503','thrpoetryman','Most of the Jewish people just want peace. \r\n\r\nMost of the Palestinians just want to live. \r\n\r\nThe Israeli government is trying to end either possibility.'); return false;">Quote</a></div>

As an atheist and a humanitarian. Will this statement get me blocked?
I have tried both olive oils from Spain and Palestein. I have found a difference. The Palestinian version tasted freer, better, and it hits the soul.
This olive oil will get scarce because Israel is destroying Palestinian olive groves to expand their occupied terrortories.
Did you notice that the word terror was in the word terrortories?
Am I a Jew? I should have been.
Do I support Jews? Yes.
Do I support Zionism? NO!
I support the free state of Palestein and the free state of Israel only under the 1967 agreement.
Anything else is wrong and against the UN charter.<div class="comment-remix-meta"><a href="#" class="replyto" onclick="replyto('352498','kimmy'); return false;">Reply</a> - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('352498','kimmy','As an atheist and a humanitarian.
