we are responsible for that. We gave FaceBook and Google the commercial Lobby to stand against us against justice today. If we did not dissolve the structre of the occupational lobby, who should do it?????
I call all free programmer to create our own platfrom and Email server based on new Ethics .. check wiserearth.com for example.

Agreed, becoming the media and creating our own social networking platforms wherever possible is the best antidote. Facebook’s founders have rather odious views and led to my opting out. Here’s some more info:

WHOAH!!! I just read that link that Anne gave above, “Facebook to Co-Sponsor War on Terror”
HELLO everyone, I had NO idea that terrorists used FACEBOOK to conduct their business! But I know one thing, there are sure alot of people who INNOCENTLY use it for socializing and connecting to people they would have never met otherwise. So if Facebook just partnered with the US State Department my question is WHY? This is just one more case of the US government snooping in on PRIVATE conversations which they have NO REASON to and are protected by our Constitutional rights. I know, everyone else outside the US isn’t covered by our Constitution, but Facebook is! It is an American company that has deemed it “Patriotic” to cooperate in ILLEGAL search activities! If there is no reason OR warrant, then Facebook AND the State Department has to go to FISA. BUT, the “Patriot Act” gave the executive branch greater leeway and FISA was neutered.
So in other words, this SUCKS! Watch how Harry Reid caved in on bringing FISA back in line with our Constitution: http://youtube.com/watch?v=MLR_y9tb9Tk
And then, really think about what Wael and Anne say above. I am not suggesting that “terrorists” set up their own network, they do what they do the way THEY do it and THAT is who the US State Dept. needs to go after! But as for the rest of everyone who JUST wants to socialize and use a network for legitimate activist reasons, go for it, because Big Brother is watching you and his name is FACEBOOK!

Good points Robin. Some good news, the second link is satirical — its really a reflection of the absurdity of our times that it can so easily pass for legitimate news, I was initially taken in but its just a send-up. Still, Facebook is susceptible to abuse and sureveillence by the “intelligence” agencies.
The first link is, however, serious of course.

Anne you got me! It’s April 11th not April 1st! LOLOL, but here goes. Above I am referring to the US govt. getting around FISA laws. We all know they monitor emails, telephone conversations, and blogs (Haitham had a “nice” visitor a while back who has a few in a small office that have nothing better to do than read blogs!)

Facebook doesn’t have to “partner”, the US government does it anyways, BUT in the above instance, the State must have a standing subpoena with Facebook because you have to show cause in an individual situation under FISA to get approval. I very highly doubt that the state agency has cause on every job applicant to warrant a subpoena.
