Biggest ever U.S. naval built-up in the Gulf (Source: Campo Antiimperialista)
France and Britain following suit
As we write, the arrival of new U.S. warships will mark the largest build-up of Naval forces in the Gulf since the 1991 Gulf War.
The aircraft carriers USS Theodore Roosevelt and the USS Ronald Reagan, along with the USS Iwo Jima, an Amphibious Assault Ship are sailing toward the Persian Gulf to reinforce the US strike forces in the region, along with a British Royal Navy carrier battle group and a French nuclear hunter-killer submarine.
This move follows the ominous Operation Brimstone, a massive military exercise involving more than a dozen warships from the US, England, and France in the Atlantic Ocean in preparation for a possible confrontation with Iran.
The USS Roosevelt, which participated in the just-concluded exercise, and the USS Ronald Reagan will join two US naval battle groups in the area: the USS Abraham Lincoln with its Carrier Strike Group Nine ; and the USS Peleliu, and Amphibious Assault Ship with its expeditionary strike group.

USNS Rainier (T-AOE-7) fast combat support shipThis massive deployment means that hundreds of nuclear-armed warplanes, thousands of troops, and destroyers capable of launching cruise missiles carrying nuclear weapons, bunker busters, or fragmentation bombs will be available for a strike on Iran. While Russia is bogged down with the crisis in Georgia, and China is occupied with the Olympics, the Bush Administration may believe that this is an opportune time to strike. This massive deployment is occurring as both Houses of Congress are set to approve resolutions that would mandate a U.S. blockade (which is an act of war under international law).
In the next few days and weeks, we will be mobilizing in the streets against an attack on Iran.

I dont think that the US will be attacking Iran since it will create such a huge mess/disaster in the whole region AND it will effect the oil prices (making it shoot up).
They could be just showing their muscle to the world but I dont think any action will follow.
Too bad online petitions have never stopped a war.
This story is a total hoax, as many other rumors about the war on Iran. The Antiimperialist camp reposted this piece from a blog run by a madman calling himself The Earl Of Stirling ( http://europebusines.blogspot.com/ ), without quoting the source . Now “lord Stirling” deleted his original article, but it was widely reposted by TENS OF THOUSANDS of websites: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22Massive+US+Naval+Armada+Heads+For+Iran&btnG=Search , that trusted without any problem a little crazy blog that before posting this false rumor had a traffic rank of 15,000,000 (10-20 visitors per day). Last week Lord Stirling’s website traffic rank was 63,000 (many thousands of visitors per day), thanks to that bogus story.

“The Earl of Stirling” was the ONLY original source of the false “news” about the massive multinational armada going to enforce a blockade on Iran. After thousands of alternative news websites and blogs reposted as a fact that unsubstantiated rumor written by a lunatic, the Mossad disinformation website Debka files “confirmed” it.

US governmental men know this well,but Some Arabs prefer to start this war beacuse of many reasons as below:
1) The historial porblems between Persians and Arabians
2) The name of Persian Gulf, during this years Arabs like to change the name after 7000 years
3)3 Iranian islands, Arabs joys to occupation of them
Any time, in future if Iran become a power of Persion Gulf as before, equations will change and the situation will really against them. so Arabs don’t like it and prefer to watch a war against Iran and enjoy destruction of this old and historial country. the country that created the first civilization in the world by “Cyrus the Great” in 2500 years ago and now we see that what happen for Iran!!!

This is the most naive reasons I’ve ever heard. No one likes war except warmongers. Arab are not one of them.

I would not be so quick to rule out this story as somewhat Accurate but with a lot of speculative input. The story originated in Kuwait and was publlished in Debika and the Jpost before the speculation ran wild. Stratford was behind the times when I checked on August 8th the first I read of the story. I noted this from other local sources in the US where navy families are present. Also from other world sources. The history of the Reagan presented in links above are outdated by Aug 5 gonavy.gp. As far as I can tell there are no real good sources for naval activity on August 8th on. The navy knows and a few others, I noted on Navy person as stating that he did not believe the movements were a hoax as he was scheduled to be deployed to the gulf in early september. The news out of kuawait suggested that someone there knew what something and the beans have been spilled, it could be that it is expected that a naval blockade is expected in late august, early september from the congress and senate, or that Israel is expected to attack or that it is mere repeat of the summer of 2007 which is a bluff in hopes of convincing Irans leadership to reverse course in order to prevent Israel from Attacking Iran in fears of a wider spread conflict. I believe at this time ships are underway or there, perhaps also it is to relieve ships for other duties around the world.
hahaha i saw a video today in which George W Bush claims President Armadinerjan has nuclear weapons, and that iran has been threatening other soveriegn nations with them!

I CAN NOT VERIFY THAT ALL THE SHIPS LISTED HAVE LEFT PORT , BUT MANY HAVE INCLUDINF THE 26THMARINE DIVISION WITH TEIR AIR WING AND SUPPORT UNITS. THIS MAY BE A BIG WAR GAME/THREAT BUT ITS NOT A HOAX.
