Wow. Unfortunately, I think you are right in that some Americans would express more outrage over this event than the rest of the daily tragedies in Gaza- partially from our somewhat unique obsession with domesticated animals, and partially because of the helplessness and innocence of the animals. This sad event marks a twisted irony because Gazans are in such a similar position- caged in with no resources, left to be shot at.

I suppose that some people would feel more empathy towards the loss of the zoo animals than to the lost human lives because it is easier to accept as fact, but is there more to that? I think that if there were more reliable news reports reaching the states and the public had a greater comprehension of the wider scope of the issues and their history, we might be more responsible global citizens. This might just be the ramble of the idealistic college student, but I have to hope that people can care more (or AT LEAST as much) about the loss of a Palestinian child as they wood about a baby zoo animal. I spent three awful weeks watching the carnage on AlJazeera because it was the only news one could get anywhere in the West. My heart broke. My heart breaks a little more, if that is possible, at the slaughter of animals in Gaza.

The boundaries of how low IDF troops are have sunk even further beyond any recorded precedence.

Their evil is now on display for the entire world to sit up and take note.

Imagine the worldwide condemnation if HAMAS had done this at Tel Aviv ZOO>?

I’m so sorry to hear of this travesty committed by IDF savages! The zoo was a featured topic on the National Geographic Travel magazine last year. I suggest contacting them to inform them of what happened to the zoo. Maybe they will be able to donate some funds for a new zoo.

I seriously wouldn’t be surprised if this does actually stir some response from the West if it gets publicized!

Israel has created such a massive propaganda and media campaign over the years, that they have completely dehumanized Palestinians in the eyes of the majority of the West. The fact that the entire world said nothing in the face of twenty-two days of genocide, is nothing short of a crime in itself.
